DM-NoPainNoGain | | Map Info |
| | File Name | dm-nopainnogain.zip | Author | Vatcilli zeitchef | Gametype | UT Deathmatch | Date Added | 07-15-2005 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 515 kb | Player Count | 2-4 | Map Description | I actually made this map to show my friend vincent how to use ued. To tell the truth I did not want to post it on NC3 but my friends told to do it any way. I was actually hoping he did the biggest part but he learned little. The map is 2-4 players but there are 18 playerstarts, allowing up to 17 players (16 bots). Hope you enjoy it since the gameplay seems to be pretty fine. The main field of play exists out of two pressure chambers and one room with walkways above a toxin pit. if you get closer you might yet hear xan mourn.
I'm starting at a new map DM/DOM- tell me wether you rather see it in DM or DOM (or both)
Before I forget I want to thank mychaeel for the cameraspot script
My Map AS-GreatEscape is out. I know it is nothing in the means of graphics, but it is about the gameplay I MADE IT BEFORE THIS MAP. If you are a grapics person DON'T DOWNLOAD IT JUST TO SPAM IT!
I could not put the stuff in the MyLevel file becouse I wanted others to be able to use them. To ease things in that map up anyway I made it so that you could install it only by unzipping it to the UT root directory
___Update___ I am near completion of DM-TrialsOfFaith I listened to what you guys said and put in more Eyecandy. Also The ceiling in may rooms is higher this time, Don't forget to check it out! | Review Rating | 4.5 | User Rating | 5 | Overall Rating | 4.5 |

REVIEWER: Gnome and Sapper DATE: Monday, August 15th, 2005 TODAY'S MAP WAS PICKED BY: Sapper
DM-NoPainNoGain by Vatcilli zeitchef
AWE: 1.5 BUILD: 1.5 CAST: 1.5
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 4 RECOMMENDED GAME TYPE: DM ADRENALINE RATING: 3/5
GNOME: I'm confused here. I see a disco ball, some pressure chambers, and a giant toxin pit. Where exactly are we? SAPPER: Oh, I know! We're in Purgatory. You know that place between Earth and Hell where hamburgers are made out of ham and nobody can make a decent map. GNOME: Oh...don't you have relatives here Sapper?
THE AWE FACTOR SAPPER: Yeah, I'm bored. I wanna stop doing whatever it is I'm pretending to be doing. GNOME: You're supposed to be helping my write this review. We're discussing the Awe Factor right now. SAPPER: Well let's see...the architectual theme makes absolutely no sense to me. The lighting sucked. The- GNOME: Sapper, you can't just say the lighting sucked. Don't you remember what happened the last time? SAPPER: No. GNOME: Well, it's not an experience I would care to repeat. You have to elaborate. SAPPER: Okay fine. How about this then: the lighting really sucked. GNOME: ...What Sapper means to say is that the lighting was akin to a really cloudy day where neon signs seem color-faded. SAPPER: ... GNOME: He would also like to express that there was infact decent texturing but it is in need of some new paint and wallpaper or something. SAPPER: ... GNOME: What? SAPPER: Stop putting words in my mouth. I meant to say that it sucked.
THE BUILD GNOME: Although everything works that way it's supposed to, I can't say I was impressed. SAPPER: Right. If there's one thing I'm getting tired of, it's straight lines. This map is full of them. Extremely simple brushes, bland and boring atmosphere. Can't even remember if there was music or not. Although structurally there's absolutely nothing wrong with the map. No BSP errors. No HOMs. No conflicts with any of the movers or functions or anything. It's really lacking in the fact that simple changes could have made it much better. Playing this map kinda made me feel sedated. GNOME: Sedated? Well then, I look forward to playing similar maps with you on a regular basis. SAPPER: Har har.
THE CAST SAPPER: AVerage. Flow was okay. Item placement was okay. Gameplay was okay. GNOME: Are you going to use any other adjectives other than okay? SAPPER: No. Actually, I think I'm done here. Ladies and gentlemen, Sapper had left the building. GNOME: Thank God.
OVERALL GNOME: As a whole, the map was average. Nothing really special to talk about. The good and the bad were about even and met halfway. Well, that's it for today. Gotta run and find Sapper so we can to tomorrow's review. Ciao. |

| Moguhlz 07-17-2005 06:20 AM MDT | Rating: 8 | | Nice looks, A good layout, Actually a map with smart bots. Sheesh the depressurization takes long! I just love the monitor ;P It gived me a great look at wat I was killing. Hehe Xan is on the bottom of the toxin pits. You are just sick! That was a great idea I hope to see more of your maps in the future.
Comment2 New map? Good tell me when it is there!
Comment3 Assault map? I don't really am an Assault fan but I'll try it any way. Hope it is as good as this one.
| Defeat 07-15-2005 11:20 PM MDT | | >Very good for a first map. The viewing screens for the pressurization rooms are a nice touch, they invite people to watch thier kill but it leaves them open if more people are in, a slight delima. You could have put in a little more for eye candy and a little trim can go a long way. The bad thing for the map is the pit, it takes too long to die in it, nice touch with the Xan though:) Keep up and read a few more tutorials and you'll get better.
| Vatcilli zeitchef 08-17-2005 05:44 PM MDT | | I know about the slow deaths, It was the Idea of my friend,He is quite sadistic. The toxin only does 15 damage a sec though I always use 50 the pressure chamber takes 9 seconds to kill though I recommend using 5 or less. I hope this does not stop anyone from playing. And thanks for the good advice. BTW if anyone else thinks I need to reduce the death time tell me and I'll do it together with some other updates.
-----Edit----- I know the graphics are not that good, Did you read the discription? I made this map to teach a friend how to use Ued if you know it will be bad, Why download it? if you look for graphics. I uploaded it for the gameplay. Other maps by me: AS-Greatescape And soon DM-TrialsOfFaith First I want to tell GreatEscape is older than this one and has the same graphics, only more complex. The objectives have some "Originality" though.
Who the f**k requested a revieuw for this map?!?! It was my first map it was very poor. To keep it short a piece of cr*p.
| [CODE]OMEGA 07-16-2005 06:13 PM MDT | Rating: 8 | | Very fun Map,Very smooth running on my Binslayer server. If you wear asking it would be nice to have a higher ceiling for us that use U4 and Double Jump. Outher then that Good Job cant waite to see more.
| cybersirius 07-16-2005 08:22 PM MDT | Rating: 3.5 | | This map is the server map cliché,bad graphics and spammy.
EDIT: The graphics are not THAT bad,it's more of a practice map than a serious attempt.
+0.5 first map (i suppose) +0.5 screenshot +0.5 good music (not really fitting with the theme) +1 some eye candy (trim and light stuff) +1 Bots works (good)
Work more on the architecture and this could be better.
| Rakiayn 07-17-2005 10:49 AM MDT | Rating: 5.5 | | hi the architekture is quite simple, its a little dark too the slowdeaths is not a bad thing in my oppinion some stuff is trimmed, the tv screens are good if it was my map i would make the ceiling of the central room a little better, its kinda boring right know
cheers
