DM-Mobius (UT)

A medium sized semi-industrial map with plenty of fun, this map doesn’t disappoint. A little sparing n the visual side of it, the nicely complicated architecture and z-axis work make this a blast to play.

AWE 2.0

The lighting in the map is mostly white with some shadow work. This lends to a slightly bland feeling throughout the map. It does have some nice shadow work at various locations but more would have been appreciated. The coronas are, thankfully, not overdone and really set off the lights well. Some color variations would have really set off the various map sections more and would have rounded out the theme better.
The textures, some of which are custom, are all chosen well and implemented well. There are some misalignments but not too many. The problem is that all the textures kind of run together to create a somewhat monotonous palette. Combined with the mostly monotonous lighting the level is a little dull.
The architecture certainly makes up for some of the other visual blandness. Wide, recessed steps, arches, beams, the BSP work is just really nicely done. Not really suggesting any familiar location but almost creating a feel of its own, the form is very competently assembled.
The music is also custom and is okay. It didn’t really grab me but it didn’t turn me off either.
If the lighting and texture work was a little more dynamic, this really would have come together very well. As it is, the quality of them don’t match the quality of the architecture and together they bring the map down a few notches.

BUILD 2.0

The build, overall, is quality as well. There was an HOM in a wall at one point but nothing that really affects the gameplay. The BSP is constructed well and nothing seems out of place or disjointed. Besides the HOM there’s really nothing else to complain about except for the lack of ambient sounds. As far as I could tell, there weren’t any. Sounds almost always fill out the detail in a map and it’s a shame they are completely lacking in this one.

CAST 2.5

The gameplay here is really the map’s shining point. The weapons are placed well – nothing’s too far away and there’s always something accessible. The shield belt is in a nicely challenging location, although I never saw the bots grab it. The keg and redeemer should have been placed in more difficult locations. Where they are now do not provide any challenge to reach. However I think the inclusion of 3 jumpboots is a little too much. The z-axis possibilities are plentiful and really make the map stand out from the crowd.
The bots will certainly put up a good fight on this one. They were all over the map, never concentrating on just one area. One downside is the player load. The default is 4 – 14. I played at the median of 9 and this was too many. There’s a delicate balance to achieve with playerloads and at 9 I felt like it was a little spammy. With this being the median, 14 would certainly be an all-out spam-carving competition. 4 - 8 or 10 would have been much better.
The gameplay in the map is simply fun. Good basic weapon placement and interesting z-axis opportunities make this map a player.

DM-Morbius is a nice addition to the Unreal family. Despite its somewhat monotonous visuals, lack of sound, and spammy player load, it makes up for it in fun value. The architecture and z-axis make this a pleasant place to pass the time. I’m not sure it will stay around a long time but for now I’d recommend the download.

It is just a texture pack, created by Hourences.

You can download it here:- http://nalicity.beyondunreal.com/map_hub.php?mid=7937.

i will come back and add comments and a score later, but folks! the file is big because the author has had to include 2 huge texture files that most people should have anyway. he tried to please. i should just offer to e-mail missing textures to people.
pictures look promising

edit:
-very nice industry type map, though there isn't much in the way of machinery , but thats okay, the pipes and metal beams are enough.
-nice layout, and the bots are playing it well.
-the lighting is okay, but could have been better with a more covered ceiling allowing some light in. right now its dusk, and therefore zero ambient light. some of the light fixtures have good coronas, some identical ones have none.
-a little too much use of the metal plate texture for the floor. it should have been used sparingly.
-the sides of the wood ramps should have been textured to fit the wood grain
-not much place for a lift, so the boots come in handy to reach some high places. unfortunately, you can also get way up on top and see the outside of the map.
-i would have put the big health in a harder to reach or more dangerous place.
nice map, well worth the download!

Well, the textures should be included in the map,

Just think,a million years from now when the apes (from planet of the apes) can play my maps but not yours.

Lighting is poor, and in some places, I miss details and, above all, trims!
But layout and playability are good, it's certainly some fun to play this map.
Good gameplay, average look -> 6.0

mabey some people should include all 4 bonuspacks, richrig, sgtech, hourindus and all of the evillars tex just to make a point

and then see how many people complain about the zip being too big :P

OK, let's get real here people. The bonuspacks, richrig and SGtech1 packs should be something most people (if not all) have for UT at this point. Those other files are not. For UT, either authors need to include all files (except obvious ones above) or extract only the texs they actually use and put them in the mylevel package. Now that the file is actually included, maybe I'll try the map.
