Architecture is a lot of what you'd expect from Paranoid - pretty shnazzy. (yup, that's right, shnazzy :-D ) Plenty of support beams, ramps, and busted walls and floors. One part that is kind of strange looking is in the lower right corner in the third screenie, not sure how to describe it or it's purpose, but it works well for the gameplay.

Lighting is fairly good, although it is too dark for the most part. At times it's hard to see the opponent, or even a ramp to get onto. Other than that, the yellow/orange lighting does make for a different, but good, look to a death match map. I think the sky could have helped lighten things up better too.

Texturing is a bit reptitive and there are some mis-alignments, but with the darkness, you don't notice it as much. The tile textures look nice, but it doesn't fit completely with the rock and wooden textures, but Paranoid still manages to make it look good.

BUILD: 2.5
Sounds are ok, but the center of the map sounds like it's infested with bats. Lifts work well, one of them I didn't notice until my third time through the map because of the darkness. The skybox doesn't look too bad with snowy mountains in the background, but the sky looks like a picture with the clouds not moving. Brush-work isn't too complex, not a lot of angles nor any round surfaces.

CAST: 2.5
Botplay is excellent, they can get everywhere and grab everything, even the keg-of-health and the redeemer. With 4 teams of 2, gameplay is really fast paced, and there's really no where to hide to catch your breath. Like I said above though, the darkness does hurt the map some in finding the enemy. But the map could also hold some excellent 1 on 1 matches.

Flow is great, but some of the item placement doesn't encourage you to areas. The area with the biorifle is the only area I didn't find myself going to a lot. Even though the sniper rifle and U-damage is close by, I just didn't seem to head that way much. The rest of item placement is good, just enough health to keep you half alive after a near death shootout.

You will need the ORM mappack, which is a hefty download, as Paranoid didn't include the texture pack he used from ORM. Still a great map though from an author who still keeps UT live and kicking.

I just thought I should let everyone know to NOT D/L this map unless you have the DespCSnow.utx which cam with the ORM-Map pack (you know with jaded beauty and Nirvana etc)I was tempted to include the package but i wanted to keep the file size as small as possible and also i would think everyone should have that awesome map pack anyway. sorry for the inconvience.

Oh sorry the actual texture package is . . DespSnowC.utx

this must have been a forgotten map in the ORM mapPack.
it plays sweet as hell, everything bout this map was exucuted very well, i cant really think of any real problems with it. mabe could use some more guns and could smooth out those card board mountains outside, but all thats minor stuff and almost not worth doing.GREAT JOB

Screen shot intrigued me as well as the comments. D/L 'ed any ways thinking I could find the texture pack, no such luck - oh well I bet it was a great map. ( know, I bet that most of us would not have minded the extra time to download the complete map set, most of us fraggers have high speed, just a thought). It was nice of the mapper to warn us ahead of time so I'll rate it a 7 for now and adjust it later if I can find the texture pack.
UPDATE: Found the textures, yup! it's a great map - I love maps that although the construction may not be unique, the little tweaks and touches make it appear unique and fresh. Well Done! make it a 9!

It's the one of yours I do prefer. Lighting if very nice. And it has diverse viewpoints that make the gameplay very pleasant.

DespSnowC isn't THAT hard to find. As paranoid said, it's in DM-1on1-ORM-mappack right here on NC3. But it's 16 megs, so good luck to all those 56Kers. As far as the map goes, it's decent. The nice visuals provide and interesting theme. The problem is, as usual, gameplay. I always complain about z-axis, but it's in decent supply here. What this map suffers from is openness. The whole map isn't open, but the way the level is constructed allows you to see all the way across the level. And, where it is open like that, it's always flat. Nice reverb and shadows, though.

This gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling when I play it. It's like taking a swig of bourbon...a pleasant burn.

I like paranoid's style(fuzzy and really detailled)
This map looks architectural good and gameplay are fine
Light and coronas are on overflow, so be a bit careful with that. Not all computers are good as yours(specially me :) Haa, i'm really considered that your maps like my style so MAKE MORE MAPS!
