You will see lots of bluish textures here, a selection of colors would have been nicer, but the author does do a good job of getting different textures on different surfaces and to the appropriate scaling, although they're still blue. The textures do look somewhat like a U1 map, and was kind of a nostalgic feeling.

No further work was done to adding lights other than adjusting the brightness up a few notches. Light sources weren't lit well, the texture was just set to unlit in the properties. But at least there isn't any dark spots, nor is it too bright, it just looks fake.

Architecture isn't bad, not good though either, it is little on the boxy side, but the texturing does kind of ruin what is there. Plenty of displays around, and other computer work stations. The walls aren't completely flat, nor all the windows square, but the floors and ceilings could use a little more variety.

BUILD: 1.5
Not much for sound, just a constant engine hum, and the elevators have good sounds. Could have added some computer beeps and other noises for more life to the map. A few t-ports in the map, one leading into a little secret area. And for bonus points (not really), no BSP or HOM errors. Brush-work is ok, no misaligned brushes, there are a few gaps between a wall and a computer station, but it looks intentional, but still could use some work.

Flow suffers a little, elevators are the only method of moving up floors, unless you translocate, and it's not that far of a jump to get down from above. Getting to the outside of the space station is rather difficult by using just one elevator or spawning there, but getting back in is a little easier with doors that open allowing you to jump back inside. Item placement could use a couple tweaks. There is a sniper roost outside, but seeing no one is out there much, there is no point of going up there except for a weapon.

Gameplay is the best part of the map, as is usual for most maps. But with 9 other bots, it makes for a good fast paced match, which makes it more fun. Bots, do not go outside, only if they spawn there, and usually can find their way in.

SCORE: 3.5
Lighting and texturing are the maps major downfalls, flow needs work too, but not a bad map for some fun fragging. If you are not concerned about looks, than DM-Orion Star is good for a fresh map.

I'd have liked to tell what I liked about OrionStar, but with these two 9ers above, which are pretty much off the wall IMHO, seems I'd rather tell what I DON'T like. Which is quite a lot: Too rectangular, too cubic, too simplistic. Textures too repetitive. Too clean, almost antiseptic. Everything's familiar, wherever you look. Lighting an also-ran, music ditto. No atmosphere to speak of.
Bots do kick ass indeed, though.
