Investigators were found completely ripped apart or maimed, and the recovered survivors would die later of the psychic influenses caused by the catastrophy they witnessed. the temple had turned the rational scientists into paranoid fanactics, shadows of their former self...no information could be extracted from them as they were completely insane. Later investigations proved that this accursed temple was build by an unknown alien race and was dedicated to the unholy "Meneer Aard"... the count of innocent bodys reached impossible heights as new expeditions were organised. Liandri bought this temple for a laughable price and the arena has been named "sadistic"... an all time favorite of the diehard tournament fans, but families with children are adviced NOT to watch the matches played in this arena. | The_Real_Meneer_Aard 05-21-2003 07:32 AM MDT | | ok noone posted a review yet so ill be the first one to do so. this map is a simple domination map that contains some traps. the traps are realistic, avoidable and dont (...) up the gameplay. sadistic people will like it. people who are not sadistic, well, they may like it too. this map has its bugs but theyre no problem (for me that is) people who download it.id like it if you'd give me some feedback in a review (if u like it or think it sux, please tell me). but you do dont reveal the traps cuz then you destroy the element of suprise and thats what this map is about. i cant rate the map but i think it is worth a 6

[Posted Later] This is the v 1.1 of Sadistic. it contains extra paths to the controlpoints, so you want have your fight through the main corridors. and also a little sewer system (watch out, you dont know what it hides...). And of course more sick humor. i even wrote a nice intro to the map ;-) Whatever you think about this version POST IT! Thanks to: Stahakov's review Bob Marleys music (to listen to while building)
| horned demon 05-09-2003 06:08 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | not a bad job on this map, lots of traps(witch i dont mind) bot's dont fall for the traps as much as i would like to see, but i know bot pathing is very difcult so it's no biggie.a little on the cramped side even with the recomended player's.but nothing that wont keep this map from being on my HD. all-in-all nicly done, give the normal UT style maps some much needed boost in origanality

Liked the traps but found they took the DOM side away a bit!!!!(would be good on DM or CTF) Bots where ok-ish(7.5/10) Liked the textures a lot and Yes Demon..bit of a squeeezz could have bin bigger but will keep as is better than cd UT doms :)
| Stakhanov 05-12-2003 05:30 PM MDT | Rating: 6 | | This first map is well worth a 6 , even if the general architecture isn't that much more than ok , the originality factor makes it a fresh map to play (ok I AM sadistic , that's why I'm so biased...) The traps aren't of the overused kind , some were classic (fell into 2 of them at start) , some were really surprising... I thought : cool , I went through 3 different traps , now I can secure this DOM point well ? *SQUISH* ... (I'd never have expected theses apparently harmless decorations to crush me) The spiky one is a bit too obvious though , you might want to hide it better and make it strike faster. You perfectly caught the twisted evil feeling of the Velora Temple in Return To Na Pali , the warm , smooth red lightings giving a false sense of security...
Though the traps are nicely done , it's sad that they can't be used against other players (well they aren't really designed for that) , having shootable buttons would greatly enhance interactivity. Gameplay wise , the map is too linear : you can only go from a DOM point to the center then to an other. Suffers from room - corridor - room mutated syndrome (since the large corridors are the widest fighting zones) The ripper and flak can be "sadistic" weapons , but placing the RL wouldn't hurt (grenades bouncing around are evil too) The "good trap" with belt&invisibility is way too easy to reach , you might want to balance it with 2 deadlier traps.
Please enlarge the map ! There's no room to fight really , and no Z-axis strategy (well except looking up sometimes...) , this map has so much room for improvement...
Add bloody decals , gibs , and corpses next time. Make it scarrier... this first map is only gently sadistic. Now I want your next map to hold more cruel sadism. Chaotic contrast , loosy architecture angles , broken stuff , and overwhelming ambiant sounds. Make it evil.

First you cant load if because of the 1.1.unr at the end of the file, so the game thinks its trying to connect to a server, THEN the moment you change the filename, the match ENDS before it even starts no matter what your setings are!
I'll give the map a propper rating when its fixed
