Alps dawn duel is dual down fun.

Two encrusted arenas within a crumbling early 1900s fortress creates the backdrop for revived combat with your favorite 2003 weapons, UT2003 that is. Initially a feeling of over-scale reflects on the visual senses, or is it the player models for 2k3 diminutive?

As play commences the later echos the truth voiced by the community, for this map rocks with gun fire and midget soldiers. Whatever the scales might appear, this map is optimized for heavy action. The recommended 2-4 is a small load for a large map, I would hazard to see this map served up the max of 8 to match the Player Start count. Downside is item support for the weighted increase. On item placement the author has done a good job matching location to utilization, and hazard for reward. Bots however lack certain finese in achieving the U-Damage though navigate deathfully otherwise.

The only other beef I would have with this map would be the clouds race too fast over a beautifully crafted deathmatch level. From its falling rafters, down the decaying arcades to the terrain floor, Alps Dawn Duel is a premier addition to my hard drive, and a reminder of proportions yet to be patched.

This map is another map from Cliff B. Ownage, this map is very good, the visuals make the theme of the map, with corridors with water, some parts with dust and fog. The gameplay makes the level fun and you will enjoy it. Worth the download you will keep this one in your hard drive!!!

The first "ownage" map that is worthy. Not just another eyecandy map, this map actually has good gameplay!

Very nice. I didn't like the way the fog screwed up the details in the background, nor the odd green weapon bases, but the rest of the map is amazing. Atmospheric, and it plays well.

Okay map, just a sniper-happy map. Maybe a different route to the double damage bridge would be nice instead of the lame LIFT jump (thanks krolizard for clearing that one up ;) ).... Decent snipers will just snipe all day from up there, with only an agressive player with luck or good shock combo/shots to blast off.

I like the layout of this map, but the weaponbase placements can make for some real hectic matches. I'm really the last guy who wants the spawn at the bottom with the goo. The map is quite open even at the bottom, the goo is simplily the most ineffective weapon where it stands and the chokes are too large to spam, it made some really evasive and to some extend, fraustrating gameplay. Rocket Launcher is the weapon which I'll never risk for. This map is pure hitscan, the projectile weapons are extremely ineffective against evasive players. It's too deadly a trap for weapon that cannot rival the minigun, shock and lightning gun. Leave the hitscan weapons in the high risk area, have the projectile weapons at the sides.
Other than that, it's really a good layout, and is one of the better duel atrium map I've played. I like where the amp overlook the shield, it's a very cool idea.The shock seems to be the only weapon capable of knocking anyone out of the catwalk where the amp is though, other than the shock, it's too easy take players down anyone with the sniper on the catwalk.

6/10, it will be a 7 if the pickups get a fix.

I reviewed this map for InSite and really liked it. There are some things that I was not crazy about that were done on purpose. Like the bars forcing you to go all the way down that ramp & back up just to get the rockets. So I just didnt bother with them and had more fun. I also found the BOT count low for this map. I needed more action so I increased it mannually but a VERY nice DM map and definate DL.

Great map here, i love this one and play it all the time, probably the best Cliffy B map yet..good job.

I like this map. Visuals are solid and the gameplay fluid. It has some minor weaknesses, like some platforms jutting out of the floor and making me get stuck in places (and eat flak naturally) and the scale is a bit too big for such layout IMHO.

This map just doesn't feel right to me...there's a "hall of mirrors" error near the biorifle too, if you look hard enough. It feels unfinished.

What's so great about this map!?!???
The layout is not great. Weapon placement needs to be improved.
I really didn't like that jumpad that bounced my character onto the lift. What the....?? Think about it for a second. A bounce pad to take you to a lift. Doh!

It's eye candy, with nice details and light effects. Perhaps I should have appreciate that the machine could be linked to the big gun in a more comprehensive way, giving a stronger appearence of an ancient fortress.
Gameplay seems good to me, with clear sights. Runs smooth on my PC..
