Serenity seemed like someone’s version of UT2K3’s Antalus. I’ll say it right off the bat, better-looking terrain maps have been made for UT, but this one is actually fun. Plus, its fluid for online and net games.
The map looks mediocre. Design is simple all around (but simple with an objective, not fubar simple like DM-1on1-Turbine or some others i have played recently). But not too simple, the rocky terrain has angles and ridges. The terrain and some caves seem basic at times, but nothing too far from how some Epic terrain maps for UT look. The rock texture choices could have been better, I’m not sure if I like the ones the author used, but they aren’t the worst I’ve seen. There is a house in one corner of the map, and in another part there is some sort of old archway that is blocked off by a collapsed gravel spill (which is well textured, more so than anything else in the map). The rest of the map is rock, grass, dirt, waterfall, and wooden planks serving as walkways between rock structures. There is a tiled room with a lift, carved inside a cave. There’s even an infamous loose tile in there. Lighting isn’t too great, rather plain and overused (its night for crap’s sake) but at least no part of the map is too dark. Some ponds have lily pads in them, which is nice. The grass texture used seems to be a repetitive patch design, plain grass would have been better. There are misalignments too. Overall, the theme is nothing new, with better texturing and lighting, the map could have passed for average, but I give it a 1 for awe.
This map plays pretty ok. The layout isn’t exactly stunning and original, but the map does play well. It isn’t big and I found action pretty steady, even with only 2 bots. The map flows like fine wine poured over the smooth belly of a supermodel. If this isn’t on servers by now, then it should be. Map can actually be interesting, some shallow ponds offer sound fx to warn other players of your approach and it never takes you long to find another player. The only gripe I have with the map is the item locations. They may be a bit too spaced out at times. Check the waterfall pond for the armor.
The Prophet’s Verdict: It isn’t Heidi Klum but it has the personality of the girl next store. I highly recommend this for fast online gaming. Gameplay is good, not great, but the fun is there.

This map won me a sound blaster live and a 100 bucks I will have you know :D
I was trying to make a terrain map that didn't have vertical walls like most of the other maps in it's time. I came out a little short here in all respects. Terrain just blows, in general, with the old engine.
