There are two versions of this map on Nalicity (the second being darkzone_a) and I am not sure whether they are both by the same author or not. Either way, I think that this is the better. Functionality and architecture are identical between the two, but, that is easy to understand as this is a remake of a Quake I DM map (DM6 I believe). Quake was when I started getting into DM, so the map brings back memories, it is also happens to be one of my favourites. For those of you who don't know about this map, it is two large rooms connected by large rectangular hallways, teleporters and stairs. As deathmatch maps go, this is a very simple layout. The map plays fast and smooth, the bots work great, the layout is faithful to the original, and weapon placement is very good. The lighting is quite dull, as are the textures, I think that a little darker and moodier would suit the map.

I know that the texture is a bit.. well.. nothing fancy, but we use this map for clan pracs, i love it. i always loved the quake version, and i think this conv. is setup really nicely, tho some tweaking could be done. i just downloaded the other one (darkzone_a), and im gunna check it out - but it looks to.. well.. like theyve just tried to add spiffy stuff, not actually make the level wild. if yas know what i mean. still a good level tho, but not very fast for 1on1's

I have to disagree with Shao. I just downloaded a fresh copy of the map. I played it in a practice session against bots, and it worked perfectly! The map looks good and has enough twists and turns to make it quite challenging. If played against bots, be prepared for some really frantic action! The only drawback I could find was that the invisibility pickup didn't actually make me invisible to the bots. Shao, try downloading and installing the map and its texture file again. You probably just got a corrupted file, which very rarely happens on Nalicity.

Hmm,whats this?and whos the author,cool a DMquake1 map .Problem is he has the teleporters all screwed up,you exit the wrong ways,making it a useless quake1 redo,and there doesn't seem to be a screenshot.
Still again another crappy redo.

And hellscrag this one? i'ts not me who's arogant,I am truly honest on all ratings unlike the way other bash maps,specialy redone levels of wich i have great respect for the author,if it's bad it's bad,if it's good it's good.

But no one here gave the ones I did,(not all,including you) even have any logical statements. These two darkzone maps get a nonzero ,because they as least resemble the original map.

This really pisses me off too,he does this all wrong,and it's a bad redo,these so called proficiant mapper-commenters don't even know what the facts are.Either your a lame critic,a lame player,or lame mapper,or more like all three,it addes to the meaning to "lamers".
Along with all those lame comments on my Q1 maps just a bunch hypocritcal people.If I sent my version of this here,youd all be very predictable with the enth degree of childish comments.and zero posting,and don't say it aint true cause it is.

and I only found this map,looking for anothers,of whom author is not on nalicity,wonder why.

Final word,after seeing this level ,now I have proven exactly what I wanted to know about this place.

Well put it this way ,,on this map,,, the teleporters are 90% of the functionality for dm here.My is map done right even if it was all souped up with meshes for ut04.so when those dudes opinionised my levels,i am more intrinscaly involved with how the map works,via for ut gameplay AND being like Q1.It's not arogance,you wouldnt send a tool&die guy over to evaluate your stamp collection right?

And I did not dig this map up,was looking for another author of this level then this popped up,couldn't believe it.A DavidM q1 redo,then once i tried it,I was just floored on the comments I got on my q1 redos,unbelievable.

quite the oposite,more like proving how ignorant they think i am all because i did "redo" there comments hadn't anything to do with the levels,just total cutdowns.

Redfist, you'll notice that where I participated in discussions where I felt you were out of line, but without knowing a great deal about the map in question, I avoided leaving a numerical rating at all, which is what I am doing now. I do vaguely remember playing this version, but it was long ago; it's an old map and obviously doesn't deserve much of a score by today's standards.

But regarding your ratings, they simply don't make sense. You give 0s or 0.5s to maps that attempt an original interpretation of an old map; and you give 0s and 0.5s to maps that try to look like the original but don't entirely succeed... except in the case where a map is a near carbon copy with all the original textures and lighting and no changes at all, you give 9s, 9.5s, 10s...

It's YOU who neglects the midrange. On other maps, such as DM-1on1-Q1DM4, I see a great variety of scores across the spectrum from posters who have put some thought into the matter. The maps that have been getting 0s and 0.5s are those that fail to innovate, such as yours, or the ones that you have given inappropriate über-scores to - and that's not because everybody here "doesn't know squat". It's because most people here, as a matter of OPINION (and who happen to be in the majority), prefer maps that are original, whether they be "conversions" that have been taken in a totally NEW direction or, better still, a completely NEW layout that has required real creativity and imagination.

This is where the arrogance comes in. You don't respect others' OPINIONS. Instead, you present your views as FACT, and openly decry anybody who disagrees with you as being "stupid" or "not knowing squat", even if they are in a vast majority against you (and maybe ghostwheel), which surely must tell you something?

Respect others' opinions and maybe others will respect yours. Rather than saying "you don't know squat", try saying "I don't agree" but don't write off what others say - and if they stand in a vast majority, maybe you should consider the possibility that your view is not the only valid one.

I don't like to see people flamed. I try to avoid personal insults and swears in my posts for that reason. However, your conduct has been sufficiently haughty and high-handed (despite general poor punctuation and butchering of the English language when you are at your most irate), that it's hard to feel that you don't deserve some of the flak you have been copping, and it's no wonder some of the users here have turned against you.

Maybe in future you should avoid bumping ancient conversions on the comments list just so that you can tell everybody else how ignorant they are.
