I'm in awe. A puny little map at only 400k or so, I wasn't really expecting much out of this level. So you can imagine my suprised when I launched it and found myself staring at what may be the best Unreal Tourney map I've ever played.

The layout feels simply Escheresqe--a maze of twisty catwalks, all alike. It's perhaps a little easy to get lost, but you probably won't mind. As an open level it's possible to fall off the map, but with the way the platform intertwines into itself you'll likely as not simply wind up on lower ground. But not all the time, of course. When the floor angles upward the gradient is rather sharp, and you'll have trouble seeing who's on top or down below; some may be put off by this, but I think it adds to the tension of the map.

The attention to detail is simply phenomonal. Blue lighting cracles in the distant, sky, providing brief illumination to the appropriate side of the map. Textures are perfectly aligned and taseful. A small rim above the map shines with a blue light without interfering with the light elsewhere. Even the lifts are impressive, with flanges connecting them to the side of the adjacent wall. (And they're quick too, keeping the action going.) And for all this, the framerate stays silky througout.

Bots play the map well enough, but they are aguably a little easier than usual, so you may want to turn them up a notch. And that's it; that's all I can think of for criticism.

DM-1on1-Contact has impressed me more than any other map since at least CTF-HallOfGiants, if not more. It's artwork like this that makes me strain that much harder to justify my install of Quake 3. Get it now.

It's prety good work he made there, but I don't think it's a 9.5! What the others said, you do fall of the cliffs a lot. And I think that if you begin playing UT, the map is to difficult for you because the bots shoot you of the cliffs. I'm not a beginner anymore, so I practise on this map a lot, thanx for making it!!

It's ok but definitely not a 9.5 unless it's out of 20. It has very little challenge in it and gets boring real quick. Giving maps like this 9.5 really screws up the rating system for the genuinely good ones. What are you smoking, Neko? As a tourney map, compare this to DM-Viridian. BTW, who is awe?

IMO, a map doesn't have to look like DM-Turbine or DM-Pah to kick serious ass... yes, it is a very basic map, but I think its simple layout in conjunction with the obviously different approach to texturing is what makes this map stand out. It's almost like a clash between past and future. I thought it was cool!

Yes. There are tons of perfectly politically correct, well-trimmed maps with shining textures and good flow out there. We've come to a point where a map should get a good score due to its uniqueness, not the fact that it was made by the book. And this map stands out as just that: Unique.

Now, to make sure that everyone dies a whole fucking lot, let's put a Ripper a Shockrifle and a Rocket Launcher in prominent positions! It`s a gimmick map. You have constantly to avoid from falling off - not really playable, so the fun-factor is very short. Very nice idea, but not much more. Ugly lighting (everywhere the same) texturing is consequent, but boring. architecture??. All in all nice idea, but lacks playability and hurts the eyes. Not woth 9,5 honestly! Please be more serious

First of all, good work Neko and all other reviewers, you are doing a great job, I really appreciate all the time you're spending on reviewing so I can download the maps I like and leave the rest for what they are. Keep it going. About the getting knocked of the edge thing, is that so bad? I love it, you just can't go down there and chase your enemy with rocketfire cause if you don't watch your step you'll end up dead. Try this map with an inhuman or godlike bot with jumpy behavior, it's COOL, and it's a great way to learn how to dodge rocketfire. I love this map and I've played it alot since I downloaded it. P.S. If my english is bad, I'm from Belgium and i'm still learning english at school

This map is really intense when you play it with somebody as skilled as you... so I gave it a 8 cauz weapons and ammos are sometimes too far and your oppenent can kill you easily...frustrating...and the other point is ... its got to be more intense to get 10...Good map

if you want a real challenge, you outta use U4E with only meele and compund-bow. a total challenge and not too easy yet not too hard. try the challenge and you'd agree. FYI: I am not a spokesperson for U4E, just a suggestion. you'd like it.

I would have given it a ten if one of those lightning bolts would have hit one of my opponents.
I really laughed hard when I saw the bots junp off the edge after the opponent they had just knocked off the edge.
I even saw one bot standing on top of a light after he got knocked off the edge.

I've had this map since it first came out and it still one of the best 1on1 maps ever made. Turn the bots up a notch for best performance. Try it with more bots too...

And don't take any notice of the people whose gameplay is so crap they keep falling of the edge - some maps need skill dudes.

I think it's a ok map, but it gets a little boring after a while IMO.
It's sure is a original map, I've seen no map like this.
The only thing I miss is a somewhat bigger platform where you can duel strait forward.

/me likes to use the lifts to liftjump and frag some guys from above! ;-)

download Who Pushed Me to fix the pushing problem. the one who pushes you gets a frag and you dont lose one.

Looks great plays shitty. to little amount of space to dodge so someone with the sniperrifle is prone to make thousands of headshots. shock rifle (which pushes opponents) is too powerful. finally can you dodge a rocket aimed at your feet on a 2 meter wide floor? i cant.

Maybe the bots fight so poor, I've tested this map in a Practice Session with 3 bots in Inhuman level and... They still camp! (I've using Auto-adjust skill option in this). But this map kicks ***!!! I'm sure about this.

EDIT: In my SP Ladder I've included this level in the last fight at 1-on-1 ladder (replacing Assault ladder in an alternative ladder). Maybe I release this mod in this place.

i wanna talk with the guy who designed this map... he's a bloomin' map makin' guru...

So what if you can knock someone off the edge? That's the point. You have to do a thing called 'dodging.' It's better in insta than regular tho. And i am an insta fenatic tho so don't listen to me there:)

This map is very insane and is completely different to any other DM map I have ever played... for some reason it reminds me of CTF-SkyDamage, but probably only because of the similar sky scrolling at the top and bottom. Noth maps are slightly similar anyway.

I do think it's worth a try though, and is worth downloading even if you don't decide to keep it.

This is a great map. Best on insta though, because if you get shot with a shock rifle, you will fall off and lose a frag. Which is annoying. But that is not the maker's fault.

Soon I will be submitting my maps. I encourage you all to download them cuz they are pretty, they're fast and the bots even on masterful will kick your sorry butts.

One of the best maps to have multiplayer fun for a long time, imo.
On the one hand its just pure fun to play around on it,
on the other hand it's a really good map to practise both movement and aiming.

Sure there isn't that much Textures and "eye candy" and so, but it really doesn't need it.

My lil' tipp for a chilling round:

Grab a m8, load this map and laugh your head off,
while you expierience some of the wickest and funniest

Totally overrated with 9.5 - archy and Lightning is shitty, we can argue about the floorplan, its not really crappy, but not good either. But, the map makes somehow fun... I'll give it a 5 because of that.

What a wild rating!! 10, 1 ,7, 2 ,8 , 3 !! all numbers are present. If you fall off the edge too much, that mean that you are sloppy, and not playing well. the number of textures is low, but the layout is realy interesting. the atmospheare is somewhat of Quake style.. My suggestion is that you take that useless revolving ring , and lower it between platforms, and place a health keg or a shield, or invisibility.That would be like an extra challenge.

Ok the isnt really much architecture but it doesnt look horrible, the texturing is a bland and a bit repetive. The gameplay can get a bit annoying though as you keep getting knocked off by someone with a rocket again and again or you fall off, but apart from that its fast paced. Lighting isn't that great but the blue swirly light thing looks nice, about the only eye candy in the map. I also like the way it is floating in the air by rockets. Skybox isn't much though. Overall a fast paced but tad anoying map that looks solid but not great.

My girlfriend and I play this 1v1 sniper usually but Ive spent several matches with weapons as well, talk about something that teaches you to dodge properly and show forethought this is IT!! Yes falling or getting knocked off can be irritating but hey, easy maps suck.
This map not only gives you a taste of several tactics, a bit a z axis action, but the lift jumps can add tons of fun when mastered, totally throwing off your opponent. This is one of the most fun maps I keep on my 1v1 server. Kudos, well done!!!

No Man,a 2? seems a bit to low

It has round corners,skyzone,lift,lighting is good for the way it looks.

Has translucent floor on the mover,sounds,etc etc,
But this map you can jump down,jump down, jump down,to
all the same size widths,very easy to NOT fall off.

Wich means you have good control ,and still get around,even on that small map but still not fall off,wich is a cool feature of this level.And I do not like falling maps,but this wasn;t bad.

Maps is clean,well done,cool map.
I am leaving out gameplay,somewhat,because I don't go for falling maps ,so aabout a 6.00001

Top grade. This map's an aquired taste, but it grows on you. Even if the map is simple graphics wise, its layout and weapon placement is excellent. You think lower spawns, far from the shock is unfair? Only until you realise what a powerful weapon the ripper (alt-fire) is on this map. The most intense matches I've ever played is on this map. Good opportunities for lift-combos and other shock stunts for us shockh0s as well. The map is good with translocator too, making it even more intense as players fly all over the place, all the time. The map is unique and it's gameplay more than makes up for its rough edges graphics wise. My all time fav map. :)

I'm sorry guys but this map just frustrates the bajeezus out of me. I keep falling off and its hard to avoid. The layout looks cool and all and its pretty, but its damn annoying.
