| Jebidiah 07-30-2004 04:53 PM MDT | Rating: 1 | | Ooh boy, another descriptionless, screenshot-less map. Well, it's a small file, so I might as well download it, right? Uh, not my best choice... The map is a collection of subtracted-brush rooms, containting an odd assortment of static meshes, some of which have no collision. These subtracted rooms are connected via a network of teleporters. Not condusive to good gameplay! There is no z-axis fighting, bots get stuck, textures are repetetive to the extreme... Also, an official style readme would be nice (NaliCity has a readme generator), with recommendations such as player counts. To the author: Keep at it, but spend some time decorating and using creative BSP, and if pickups such as ammo aren't piled together, it will be much better for the bots. Number one point: go easy on those teleporters!
| kailonn 08-01-2004 07:59 PM MDT | | Well I didn't know there was a generate readme button >:< I couldn't find any good textures either...and i thought the teleporters would be cool..hmm I'm a long way from makeing a good map..and my screenie is too big and i can't shrink it down >:< ARG, I'm going to die I want to make a good map.
btw,ok stupid question but how do i shrink size of screenshot with pixia?

Look at other maps for inspiration. Say, for example, you really liked the texturing in CTF-Kosov. Open CTF-Kosov in UnrealEd and see which texture sets Inoxx used when he made it.
It's a time-honoured method of learning.
And you don't need a readme generator - just lift the layout from someone else's readme. Heck, you can lift the layout from one of mine if you like, I don't mind.
Images are easily resized (and, if necessary, gamma corrected) using a package such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
