| sandorski 06-10-2004 04:35 AM MDT | Rating: 7 | | Ditto, takes forever to get anywhere in the Goliath, even longer in the Leviathon. Definitely worth downloading though.
| [-SS-]RoKyT 06-10-2004 09:41 AM MDT | | Thanks for the comments guys. This was my 1st attempt and a released map. By chance, did you guys find the 2 target painters and the redeemer room? There are hidden entrances to them, but are easy to get to.
I gave up on this map like 2 or 3 times because of the sheer size of it. Its not too complex. But there is lots of room to roam for sure :).
But as a learning experience for me, this has helped out greatly.
Thanks again for any and all feedback, its needed to figure out what I can do better for further endevours.

So many maps are just pits inside which you run around in little circles. This map is a BIG pit, I like it!
Some clever mappers work around the claustraphobia of the pits by building floating platforms or islands, which helps a lot, but the world is still a little one. Some maps are so convoluted that the players tend to get lost in them. In this map that does not happen despite its size.
The only thing I would offer is that the map needs some cheering up. Brighter lights, more colors, more vegetation, shadows, and hey! how about animating that big bad volcano.
A final note about fog. I know it can be turned off in UnrealEd. I hate fog. Let me reduce my graphics settings if my frame rate goes south, but please don't use fog. There is nothing less real that watching objects fade in and out of view simply because you changed the direction you look. There is nothing more fake that looking to the horizon at a fogged-in distant mountain range - and see the crystal clear sky just above it. Real fog also obscures the sky. Did I say I hate fog?
How about a version of this map with not fog?
Great map. Ownage!

| Artman40 06-14-2004 05:51 PM MDT | Rating: 8 | | Large, actually HUGE beatiful map. May even be larger than OMS-Dira. Well placed items, powernodes and vehicles. The only bad thing is that bots try to walk over nearly vertical 'mountains' and get stuck.
OMG really intense fighting for the 'middle' power node. Keep up he good work and try to avoid this 'try-to-walk-over-the-wall' bug.
| Sicko Teddy 06-14-2004 02:46 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | Use the FOG RING IN THE skybox. (make sure the fog ring and the fog color match. This will eliminate the problem with FADE MOUNATIN/CLEAR SKY . The large map. Why don't you add some jumps that lead to daredevils? That would be more fun!
| Manticore 07-27-2004 07:43 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | Big fun...........
| BmB23 03-05-2006 01:10 PM MST | | Look, unreal engine has a hardcoded drawlimit. That means stuff starts to dissapear after that distance.
and maps this huge tend to be larger than that distance, heck, Torlan is bigger than that.
only solution is fog, sorry mate. (only thing that isnt affected are fake backdrops, the surfaces used to draw the sky on)
