AWE: 2 I'll start with the down side of this map: it's all gray. Ok, it's really silver, as the title, and the author's readme states, and is what he intended. The texturing mostly comes from El Chicoverde's ChiconruinsPack, and a couple other packs. Which oddly enough, is included in the zip, but all the textures used from the packs are in the MyLevel package... As far as the texture usage goes, it's great, it's just boringly gray through the whole map.
Architecture looks great, although the textures really help cover up it's basic nature. It truely isn't that complex, but it looks like it's part of a nice looking village. Good archways, window trim, nice peaks to halls, etc.
Lighting could use some work. Kind of fake looking, not quite subtle enough, too much white lighting around, and where there are color changes, they're too drastic. Some lens flares are too large too. Quite a few of the lanterns for light sources are just hanging in mid-air, should be attached to something. Other flames aren't placed exactly over their respective sconces either.
BUILD: 2 Map lacks some sounds, as the flames burn rather quietly. There is some wind, crickets, and water sounds, but they're just not enough. What helps the build score a lot is the added prefab decorations. One does look like a giant candle stick, but the rest look pretty cool, including the chandalier, and a cool torch holder. Also, the map has doors that open both ways, but their downfall is that they're bump triggered. There wasn't anything mentioned about who made the prefabs though.
CAST: 1.5 2 main things that bring this score down is item placement, and layout. The map is really large, but the bots only use one route out of several options. The alternative routes are longer, don't flow as well, and are truely out of the way. Inventory is a bit sparse, too many weapons are clumped at the spawn points, and not enough in between bases. Not to mention the Instagib rifle is located in the map too, which the bots do grab on occasion. Plus the shield belt and U-damage are way too close together, same with health vials. Bot play is great, at least along the route taken.
SCORE: 5.5 The map really deserves more. Just too many things that bring the score down, mostly sloppy mistakes, but not all. If the map could be tweaked and refined more, it would be an excellent map. |

Bots are a real challenge. the overall map is decorated really nice (but i spotted 2 flames about a meter beside the torch). only bad point is DONT put the instarifle in cuzit make people too powerful.

I mean to put an OverkilL weapon practicly next to the flags...? On the otherhand the RDMR is very nice stashed away. And the map definitly to bright. More shadow brings out the torches more.
Personally I prefer roman architechture, but my personal tast shouldn't have effect on this fine piece of work.
By the way. DarkjaxX, It's very very odd to give a map a load of compiments and afterall rate it a medium 7.
EDIT: With the third one in the latest additions it made me wonder who actually made this level?
