A 194 KB download for 8-20 players. (!)
General:
This map is a wide open square area. All over this area you have little pyramids that work as cover. In the corner regions of the map you have lava basins, in the middle of the map several ramps (hence the name). The architecture is quite unspectacular, almost minimalistic in fact.
In the map's readme the author explicitly allows people to improve the map if they wish to. Someone pleeeease do that, folks! Because this map might be a lot of fun online if at least the major flaws were fixed.
Stuff that made the wolf growl:
Hmm, quite a lot here couldn't really be much worse than it is...
First thing to come to mind would be lighting. The entire open area is virtually unlit!!! (The 1st screenie has its gamma cranked way up.) You got a little light from the bases & the lava, but even on highest gamma did I hardly see anything. So I ran the map in that "omni-lit" render mode for playtesting, and that was much better.
Another downer is the behavior of the bots. Them suxx! They only walk one single path between the bases, no difference if they're going in or going out. Right in the middle of the map is a shieldbelt over a little lava-trap, and the bots jump deliberately around it. One even got stuck right on the enemy's flag-platform (see screenshot)! Just was moonwalking there till a few seconds later a helpful girl scout asked him if he wanted to buy her cookies, and when he declined, she shot him dead...
Oh, and you spawn facing a wall, and you know...
Stuff that made the wolf howl:
The items are very intelligently placed.
The layout as such, and also the general idea of players jumping back and forth behind the cover-spending bits of architecture were quite good. Flow was there, too.
Summary:
Forget about playing this map as it is. The bots are no challenge, even if you fixed the lighting problems. Against other humans however, and with an improved version ][ this might become a cult-trash-gibfest-classic.
