Lucius is a level first introduced to me by Akuma, and while for the most part this map is a quality construction, there are a few niggles that prevent it securing a place on my hard drive.


A huge structure in space, with the two bases separated by a large low-gravity pit, provides the setting for the fight. The map is as tall as it is wide, and the bases are well-made with good solid architecture. It kind of reminds me of the interior parts of DOM-MetalDream, but much better. If someone falls into the pit they have no chance of escape and an amusing message 'Kain forgot to jump' appears. There is a screenshot and playercount and music, all giving it the professional touch.


Lighting is good, although there is little variation throughout the map. If it wasn't for the simple but excellent layout this map would be a pain to navigate. It is reasonably dark but never so dark that you cannot see. Coronas and light-boxes are used extensively, although to keep frame rates high no other lighting effects are used.


The only big problem with this map is the botplay. This is not to say they don't know how to kill - they will frag you many a time with any of the weapons available. Although not the best they will provide good base defense. They also know how to make flag runs, jumping over the pit and occasionally coordinating an attack. Once they have the flag, however, they just stay in the enemy base and survive for about 10 seconds, making no worthwhile attempt at a capture. This is probably due to the complex jumping required to avoid falling into the pit. I did not play with tranlocators on, but this would make no difference as you just drop the flag anyway. This single problem *almost* ruins the map for offline play. I'm absolutely sure that for playing against humans this map will rule.


All other aspects of the map are very good - item placement is thought-out, as is the selection of weapons. Frame rates are consistently high at no cost to environment detail. There is a sort of ambient hum almost everywhere in the map, generated by lights and VDUs. This all adds to the feeling of being in a large vessel in the void.

Wohooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! Cool map.The V2 of this map is worth a ).5 but V1 get 8.5 from me. This is something we never have seen before. Also test Clay's CTF-Damtofar!!!!!!!!!

Wow! After downloading and playing all 9-10 rated CTF maps I have to say this is my favourite. As you approch the Pit the lens flares on the opposite side make you squint and then the sheer scale of the place hits you as you teeter on the edge. Not since the first few times times I played Face have I felt vertigo like on the edge of the Pit. Once you figure out jumping across, you feel like yelling "Woohoo!". Play it against humans and you'll feel the adrenaline rush. I agree that the bots struggle a bit but I've been playing on Adept and they scored a couple of times. It makes me want to give up all hope of ever producing a map anyone will play... Peter - keep up the good work!

8.5 - At first I thought this map was kinda ordinary. But after playing it a while I realized that this really rocks. The more players, the harder it is to get the flag (let alone score). This is a great map. Just wish it was a bit bigger inside the forts.

This map rawks for IG play. Fights in the LG area can be brutal if you have any kind of accuracy. Well done. :D

Wtf, clay didnt make this map i saw it alooooong time and it was made by some dutch person. But it is a good map specialy in instagib =D

My only problem with the pit idea. The bots keep shooting me into it before I can jump... I still manage to win though. :D Donwload now!
