description: parralel universes (warpzones), gravity shifts(still warpzones), traps (future over present trap that incinerates you and those crystals that come out of the walls that squish you), sounds for doors (right from the movie), textures (right from the movie) and bonus textures (still from the movie) that create a cooler atmosphere.

PS: i couldn't do the pathnodes for the bots. they don't seem to work because the stairs are too thin :(

As a fan of the movies, I must say that I kinda had fun running around in the cube. I think "Cube" was my favourite movie of the three - and coloured walls would have made this map more interesting. (I actually just watched "Cube Zero" for the first time the other day). I liked the traps, but I wanted more!

While I think this would work better as a single player map - perhaps even strictly as a puzzle map (that changes every ten minutes ;) I will tell you a little trick that should get the bots to climb the narrow stairs. Put LiftExits at either end of the stairs and and be sure to link them properly (LifTags) and if that doesn't work also put a lift center somewhere in the middle. Bots also seem to have problems with warpzones but according to the wiki - placing pathnodes as far into the empty portal room as possible will help.

Good Luck

Edit: @ GTD-Carthage - actually, this map is based on the sequel to Cube. It is called Hypercube.

@ West - Yep, I've read it. One of my favorites.

Yay teh TRAPS!!! o/

This map will not be appreciated by the public as it seems most likely but I still love the technical execution - the traps.

That's the best rating I could give to this map. :P 4 would mean average but still a worthy rating for cubes. :P Most of those points fall in the novelty of the map having to follow some special effects, sounds, and 'cookies' the movie originally had.

If it wasn't based on a movie I knew though, it could have been just two points. :P Gameplay is rather bad of course since the cubes are all alike and will at some time make you reappear at the opposite edge from one side of the map. You can barely do anything but dodge sideways with enemies in doing so. Bot gameplay is inexistent unfortunately.

Basically, the tech execution gives this map a boost of 2 points.

[EDIT]
And the nut-case movie! LOL

@xterminator
Kantham hasn't watched the movie yet and he isn't the type of guy to adore just any map even if it's a good resemblance to a movie. :P

@West
You'd never guess the movie's name this map is referring to. :P ... actually it's "CUBE"! LOL

@Lord Kafer
Ah, I knew it! My brother lied to me then! I was right. LOL

heh thanks for the comments guys! kantham why no?

later edit: lol

the lastest edit: i don't know if you guys saw but i added some bonus textures to the map (60659 expiration date and cube diagrams :P)

the lastest latest edit: yes i read the book but this map has NO POINT to the book. i donm't think this map deserves a 4. but if that's ur opinion. btw it has playability with humans try those. and i think it's pretty cool to see humans coming from al lthe directions. it's pretty challenging.

omfg another edit: this map is based on that movie. i think it got out quite interesting and the z-axis axion is pretty cool. not to mention that i got the textures and the sounds from the movie. try playing it with 9 ppl and see how cool is it. i think the traps look fine too. and i worked very much on this map (about 5 months and a half)

another friggin' edit: ok i will do a ctf version of the hypercube and a cube styled map with colours

PLEASE CAN THE ONES THAT COMMENTED ON THIS MAP ALSO VOTE??

@refist: why did u give it a 1???? i saw crappier maps than this that got higher ratings and look even shitier. if u didn't watch the movie u will see it as a "crappy bunch of cubes". plus, is this map SMALL??? it has a total of 12 cubes 3x2x2 and it's suitable for 8-10 players.(not 12 because 2 of the rooms are trapped with that force field that kills you). and if by small u meant too cramped, i saw a map on a bonus pack that is even more cramped(dm-healpod).
yes it is playable.

@ gtd-carthage: you said that if i make a better version (with traps) u will give me a 7.5

@redfist(again) dude i saw one of your "creations" and all i can asy is that it is MORE cramped and it got a higher rating. PFFFFFFF!

Interesting map. Unfortunately it has zero gameplay value (since everywhere you go looks exactly the same I see no reason to actually move around the map). I'm not too fond of 'gimmick' maps but I'll give it a 4 for originality and technical execution.

BTW, I have no idea what movies you are referring to, but the style of this map reminded me of the zero G battle rooms in Ender's Game, in case someone here has read that book.

xterminator, people who have commented but not voted probably have their reasons for doing so. I for one don't typically rate maps unless I've tested them thoroughly enough to write a full review, as I don't want my review scores to be compared to 'general impression' scores I'd give to maps I haven't played as much. To use another example, some people may feel that gimmick maps shouldn't be rated on the same scale as more usual works since they're not really trying to achieve the same thing.

My comment is much the same as it was for the last installment of this map: fans of the movie may find it amusing (I've never seen it myself), but it really has nothing to recommend it other than novelty. There's zero gameplay here.

This map just aint happening at all,too small too somthing even if it was playable.

ADD
Even though you may have captured some of that movie wich I didn't see,it's a terrible use of warpzones mixed with gravity along with not knowing wich side is up to see any relavence to "getting the oponent".

You just go from romm to room to romm to room wich all look the same, and there's no UP.
Trying to convert the movie wich also should convert the "idea" to fit "the game", more or less.
Anf I realize you made stuff work in making this map, but the idea just aint gonna pan out.
I put a 1 because it's not playable for a good dm match, and the lighting and the gimmick ,and the bot action,don't add up.
