On top of all that, there is one of the wackiest gametypes ever created: Nalicow Invasion - Parser - Replaces the standard invasion monsters with nalicows. All of the maps are great fun, most look great, and the additional mutators are fun, although Nalicow invasion gets old very fast. An excellent map pack, that has a bit of something for every gamer. My absolute favourite is the VCTF map, which offers a rare balance between vehicular and pedestrian captures. Onslaught features a couple of nice and small maps. And last but not least: no meshfilled industrial themed maps :D Welll, actually there are two favorites... CTF-Barcelona (top screenshot) plays very well and is absolutely gorgeous :D EDIT: There is a bug in the heavy health mutator, speed combos have no effect whatsoever. All of the maps are done very, very well, gameplay is ok, but i specially love the atmosphere of the CTF maps. it's good to see that the green, underground-ish "purisma" style isn't forgotten. (CTF-veiled) :D XEROSIS is very, very small, but SO stylish... it just feels different than most of the UT04 maps out there. nice job! :) Aryss Ska'Hara 02-01-2006 08:01 PM MST   That should be Veiled. CTF-FBU-1on1-Xerosis: Only be meant to play 1on1 this map ist really ok. But with more than 2 players it's only chaos. The visuals of this map are decent and the architechture is surely more than ok. The lightning is too monotone, more coronas and more color facettes would imrpove it. The framerates are great, just like excepted for a 1on1 map. The gameflow: This map causes real paranoia, when you play it 1on1. You never know where your opponent is, and whether he takes the underwater corridor, or comes from the middle hall. It really makes fun playing this map. I'll give it a 8.5 CTF-FBU-Barcelona This map was very hard to rate. On one hand we've got this awesome architecture, gameflow and theme, on the other hand this goddamn ship (not shi*, ship ...like boat) and some other low quality, non-3D things in the map. But if we don't pay attention to them, they don't disturb us. The gameplay: Framerates are ok for such a complex map. The layout is a bit complicated the first time, but soon you know your way to the enemy's base. Ligthning, static meshes and other visuals are really great. This map is rated by me with 9 points. CTF-FBU-Iron2 w00t, this map is one of the fastest CTF maps I've ever played. After 2 minutes playing it, adrenalin will flow through your veins. Ligthning is ok, nothing special about it. Architecture and layout are in perfect symbiose...excellent corresponding. The layout is simple but not boring. This map is excellent work, and I appreciate the author's work. 10 points, no question! CTF-FBU-Veiled "mmh, impressing map", that was the first thing I thought when I played this map. Architecture and layout fitting together, lightning and theme fitting to each other too. I don't find words to describe it, because I don't really like that theme, but it's excellent and properly worked out. Gameplay: This map is slow paced, that means, the game isn't boiling up your blood. It's more teambased, tactical...those who prefer slow matches will like this map. But slow doesn't mean boring, it's just not that stressing than other maps. My rating: 8.5 ONS-FBU-Desertion I've never made that huge ONS-Maps, so I can't say if it's a very empty map or if it's just performance friendly. Lightning is a bit depressing, the architecture of the buildings is original, I liked it, but there were only few buildings. Layout is neither too good, nor too bad...decent. Vehicle and weapon placement in general ok. I rate it with 7 ONS-FBU-Highlands Omfg, it's cold outside and you damn guys punish me with a map like this...After some minutes playing it, it got cold in my room, not kidding. On the one hand this mystical medieval theme on the other hand the cold lightning. Excellent atmosphere...whoho! Gameplay is good, and architecture is first-class! Rating: 8.5! VCTF-FBU-AkhaRu Wow, even if I don't play often VCTF, this map left very good impressions. Visuals, architecture, layout, atmosphere and gameflow. Everything was more than just good. Some more trees could be added, but that is trivial. All in all an excellent map which makes fun for a long time! Rated with 9.5 points! Turns2Ashes 02-03-2006 03:10 AM MST Rating: 8   Some high-quality stuff here. Unfortunately, the CTF maps aren't really serious gameplay-wise and probably won't get much online play. Can't comment on the ONS or VCTF since I despise vehakals and think ONS is a horrible and unbalanced POS gametype. Barcelona is the star of this pack, IMO. It's got pretty good gameplay for looking as nice as it does. Veiled's pipes are horrible, and the lack of a sprawling layout around flag means there's no escape for flag runners anywhere they go. You're pretty much better off hanging around the center of the level than by the flag if you're carrying. It's a shame AS-Io didn't make it. That map was quite fun. And DM-Kite had some awesome and unique visuals. Someone should have fixed up the item placement and stuff and made it playable. :P 3-dee 02-07-2006 05:57 PM MST Rating: 8.5   I thought I would just review the game type I play alot which is CTF, ( I am not a fan of ONS) - CTF 1-1 Xerosis... I really didnt like this map although it has been constructed. Water in a map this small is a little pointless I felt along with the fact that it was lacking a theme and layout. 5/10 - CTF Barcelona... This I did like alot, a nice theme and nicely made. The architecture I felt was really cool along with the lighting and routes throughout. All in all, a nice map. 8/10 - CTF-Iron 2.... Not bad.. Simple layout a nice and typical rusty mech atmosphere that is nicely lit. Tough against the bots too. 6/10 - CTF-Veiled... Loved it, exciting gameplay great ambient sounds along with a real sense of being inside a vibrating factory.Ahh and the music is a remake I think from UT99 which gave me nostalgia :)... 9/10 - VCTF-FBU-AkhaRu Rocked......
