Julebakst entered this map in the Make Something Unreal Contest, and obviously put a lot of work into it. The end result is a relatively balanced, medium-paced Assault level that's worth your time. The attacking team starts out behind a gate with only miniguns and some ammo, and has to force the gate open to proceed. Watch the landmines and the auto machine turrets (although the placement and range of the auto-turrets is suspect here...way out of place), and navigate your way over to the main target. Objectives here include pressing compromising the center defense sniper tower and pushing a button, destroying a computer, and eventually flying away in the super-secret spacecraft the enemy has built (see screenshot). The level includes a .u, .uax and .utx file. For UT newbies, you put these in your /unrealtournament/system, /sounds and /textures folders, respectively. 8-12 players is just about right, and Godlike bots are quite a challenge in this level, although I would have liked them to be more proactive snipers and hunters on defense. Sound and lighting are nicely done, as is the successful assault animation sequence. Nothing fancy, but unlike many UT maps, this one holds up well. I played AS-Prototype 5 times for this review, with most of the successful assault times below 3 minutes. This being the case, I would offer that there should be more of a challenge presented to the attacking team. Still, defending is not easy, with the exception of the sniper tower (I just railed on the attackers), so it will likely meet its potential with human opponents. The bottom line here is, the map is fun, not perfect, so give it a try. |

| Ajax 12-01-2002 11:57 AM MST | Rating: 9 | | I love this map played it for the first time last week, its got a bug with leagueas mod :( which is a shame as we where looking at getting it on a server for use with insta assault, though the creater has givin the go ahead for fixing these bugs :D will let you know as soon as its done. Dunno how it plays for std weapons as i was looking at it with insta in mind but as insta map go once the bugs are fixed its probaly one of the most fun ias maps out there imo.
| Slim 01-25-2005 11:55 AM MST | Rating: 6 | | Could be a lot better... there's a lot of open space that seems wasted and a lot more tight confined space where all the action takes place... (and subsequent bottle-necks occur). The ending is an anti-climax in my opinion, too.
| Enigma 02-23-2004 01:26 PM MST | Rating: 10 | | This ranks with AS-Dam as being one of my favs. Some over-sniping is prone, but it's very easy to pick off the snipers because of the hiding places. However, I find it easier to defend because of the numerous sniping ports. It's fun to see 3 or more members of my team be Godlike simultaneously.
