AWE: 1.0
BUILD: 1.0
CAST: 0.5

ADRENALINE RATING: 1/5
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 8-12 (hard to say really, play the map and you'll see why)

GNOME: Assault map time! Seeing as assault maps are so very rarely given the time of day, Sapper and I have decided to begin a massive set of reviews of the Assault maps in the NaliCity database.
SAPPER: I just know this is going to be a mistake...
GNOME: This being our first Assault map review, we've decided to become a little bit more creative-
SAPPER: You mean you've decided to become a little bit more creative. I'm not changing anything about me. I'm perfect. Everyone likes me.
GNOME: Shut up! I'm trying to communicate with our audience members.
SAPPER: Everyone hates you.
GNOME: Ignoring Sapper, I'm going to write everyone a little story to go along with every map. Just whatever comes to mind. Might make things a little more interesting.
SAPPER: Can we just start? 'Cause I don't want to just sit here all day listening to you talk.

THE STORY
GNOME: At some point in time after humanity got tired of fighting itself and decided to direct it's aggressions against alien races across the galaxy, man landed on a world where the water was green and the grass was blue. Initially, two factions attempted to colonize the planet but there was great dispute as to whether the planet should be called Abraxus or Abraxas. It wasn't long before a full scale war broke out that had cost millions of lives over several generations.
SAPPER: What a stupid story. A bunch of sad scum fighting over a letter. Is that the best story you could come up with?
GNOME: Well, there were other possible stories, but since Wheeler couldn't decide what to call his own map between the name used above and the name on the map itself, I though it was more appropriate.

THE OBJECTIVES
SAPPER: Your objectives are as follows: 1. Navigate your way through a maze of flooded caves collecting more weapons than you should be able to carry along the way. 2. Climb a whole bunch of stairs while fending off and enemy attack from above and penetrating the temple through the main entrance. 3. Die and then repeat objectives 1 and 2 a few times. 4. Climb your way to the top of the temple to find a treasure chest filled with enough loot to buy a used car. You have fifteen minutes to complete the mission and your aren't even rewarded with an end sequence. If I ever meet the guy who made this map, I'm going to shoot him in the face with a bazooka.

THE AWE FACTOR
GNOME: I have to be perfectly honest, I was more impressed with the sky than any other aspect of this map. Sapper and I have played so many maps where the clouds in the sky are moving by faster than the raging river wild. In this particular case however, the clouds where undertoned with a pleasant array of colors you might expect to see near dusk and were moving at about the same rate of speed that you'd expect them to move in real life.
SAPPER: EVerything else however was crap! Boring textures. Absolutely hideous lighting, much of which is unsourced. A temple that looks like it was designed by an early 20th century Chinese teenager. Is that supposed to be water? You know, because water is generally somewhat transparent.

THE BUILD
GNOME: This map was moderately well constructed. Good use of custom brushes. Plenty of doors and other movers with attached sound shows that the author at least knows his way around UnrealEd and can actually complete the structal portion of a map. Zoning is excellent. No HOMs. No BSP errors.
SAPPER: No music, poor spelling, too freakin' big, poorly designed, and terrible use of surface properties. I was successfully able to make the map ten times better by simply adjusting the surface of the 'water' to be transparent. It did wonders for playability. Only took me, what, 5 seconds.

THE CAST
GNOME: Umm...well, no real problems for the defending team. Umm...yeah, that part was okay. Bots could have used a little bit more direction but it really was all that bad.
SAPPER: I however would disagree. The bots were a nightmare of disorganization. The defending team definately has the advantage here. The defenders can patrol the balconies of a four story temple picking off anyone stupid enough to come near, while the defenders have to actually spend several minutes finding their way out of the watery graves, I mean caves, before they can even make an attempt to assault the base. Weapons, health, armor, all over the place. Flow sucks. ABsolutely nothing to entice me to play this map. The worst part is that even if you can get real people to play, either the attackers will take the base within 3 minutes of the alotted 15 minutes because once you get inside the base, the defenders loose the mobility advantage...that happens when there less than 8 players. Or the defenders can't get anywhere near the base because in order to maintain a sustained assault by having more than 8 players, well, the temple is swarming with enemies. Note to author: it helps if you actually think about how the map is going to be played when you design it as opposed to just trying to build something different.

OVERALL
GNOME: I can't really say I was happy with this map. I would say it has potential...if half of the map's brushes were removed.
SAPPER: I've said it before and I'll say it again. This map sucks!
GNOME: Another great commentary by Sapper. See you all tomorrow.

Uhhmmm I do remember having seen this map before.....
I downloaded it and only found three things wrong:

No music, No ending secuence. however it looks good there are too few entrances to the main area
the las one is the worst since it often takes way too long to get in action.
I recommend adding some more openings, or even more fun Fountain jumppads as in JB-colaration (UT2k4)that launch you through thee gaps in the top of the cave into the water. Till you find somethingg I won't rate this

well....I will leave a score for Shao...but seriously i am not the same user....

This map is below of 5 ( maybe 2.5 or 3) cause the objectif is pretty simple...the layout is kind of poor...and no sequence ending ( like AS-Bankjob ) but I don't really like this kind of map...maybe u should dl other maps of assault...and i don't really recommended...

This map reminds me of AS-Golgotha.

Except, bad.
