| Sir_Cache 05-21-2005 08:48 PM MDT | Rating: 0.5 | | Easily one of the worst designed maps out there, the only possible way this map could be made worse would be if it never loaded. A more precise reason as to WHY this map fails:
Textures are simple, blocky box shapes that have no inspiration to them. There are transitional areas between the shaped rooms (they look like open sky, it's not), and these areas are poorly designed and far too easy to slip off. Everything is either a square, or a hexagon--that's it. In the center of each lighthouse is an open, narrow circular staircase--a bot on novice firing randomly could knock you off the thing.
Bots have no effective pathing and tend to jam in the corridors that are so narrow that even they could not miss a shot. Lighting--when there is lighting--is so badly placed and oversaturated that it breaks even the barest attempt at a theme.
Weapons? The red base has a redeemer sitting in the open at the only entrance to the base--clear overkill there. There is far too much health spread out, and other weapons are far too plentiful.
In the end, the author attempted to create something interesting, but as there is only one path back and forth to the base, along with the myriad other failures, I can only give this a 0.5 rating and even that seems unfairly high.
