Made for UP's 'Old School Rulz' mapping contest. Spent 7 of the 10 days on it, 5 of which was spent on the BSP. The only meshes in it are the two lifts. 1 custom skybox texture. Overall, the map lacks a lot of polish due to the time contstraints RL imposed on me. Still, I tried to experiment with steam blurring the necessary UT 'line-of-sight' gameplay. Therefore the bots may be more formidable opponents than usual because the steam doesn't affect them.
Feedback is always welcome. Thank you and enjoy the map. | Review Rating | -- | User Rating | 6.5 | Overall Rating | -- |

| ArcadiaVincennes 01-19-2006 04:57 PM MST | | Thanks Wesley. As to your specific comments: - Textures: Yep - definately room for improvement there. - Landmarking: Yep - certainly a problem. - Skybox: The problem is the texture is too small (filesize was a contest restriction). Obviously room for improvement there. - Bots vs DD: Actually, they do care about it but the player count's too high so they get distracted too easily. - Adrenaline: Good observation - I hadn't noticed that before. Thanks again for the comments. [EDIT] Cymek - I think all your critiques are spot-on. Thanks for trying it out. :) [EDIT] Wesley - I specced the bots a few times and they will grab it by jumping from light to light, and I've come across bots in possesion of the DD. Still, the bots don't grab it often, or quickly, enough.

- Textures don't always look right. Pillars for example, with the ceiling texture. - Many parts of the map all look the same, making me constantly wondering where to go next. - The skybox is horribly stretched and had edges clearly showing. - Bots don't care about the Double Damage pickup. - Adrenaline seems a bit overused.
Gameplay, on the other hand, is excellent. I really like the feel of this map. I really don't know how to rate this due to the visuals and stuff, but I know you can do better anyways.
EDIT: Bots might grab the DD if they don't have to translocate to it. Maybe a jump pad would help you with this.

My biggest overall complaint is lack of landmarks. It's really hard to find one's way around if you don't know the map very well. Then there is the pervasive steam noise, which is really quite loud. I normally like this in a map actually, real things are always louder than UT sound tends to be, but it really took me by surprise at the start. There are a lot of smaller things that could have been done, like better steam emitters, BSP trim, adn a better skybox, but overall the rest wasn't too bad. There are a lot of small things though, like I kept falling into one of the tubes that the steam jump pads were in. getting me stuck so I had to suicide.
The map was a lot of fun to play though. :) Fast DM action, and the tight areas really keep you on your toes. I've played your other maps before and that this one suffered due to a lack of time, but nicely done overall. this one is a keeper for a little while, jsut becasue of the fun games I had on it.
