| redfist 01-21-2006 11:42 PM MST | | Too bad ut04 aint up to making ANY map better from UT, looks good, wonder if it's better than the other 2 I seen of this redo. Well I just uninstalled ut04, like I wish I could check out this level, allways interesting to see redo's, looks good. I am curious though, did you make the chamber switch shootable and push?
ADD Hey, Martinblank, the biggest deal if you use different texture is scale them real good to keep the old unreal feel.
| CyMek 01-16-2006 03:12 PM MST | | From what I played of it in the beta, it's a good map. It's a direct copy of the original, although kudos to martin for getting the pressure chamber working. I was always a sucker for the original pressure, I loved its look and feel, and it keeps that in UT2004. It's better than the other 'ports of pressure IMO, because they don't keep the same feeling to the map that this does, and the staticmesh usage in them doesn't justify the overall blander visuals. Definately worth the download if you liked the original.

Definitely a download if you liked the original. It sticks pretty close to it and has much the same feel, even the music. Some very minor things: The water doesnt move, and you immediately black out when caught in the pressure chamber, instead of fading out. Like I said very minor. Im not a modder/mapper, so this is strictly from a player perspective. (Isnt that why we bought the game in the first place?)

The textures are kind of ugly. I think they looked better in old ut. But then again, it has been a while. The whole thing seems scaled down a bit. Several rooms look very plain. Good map but something just feels wrong somehow. Still worth a DL if you like pressure. Bots seemed to work for all 30 seconds I put them in.
| martinblank 01-21-2006 11:06 AM MST | | There is good news guys. I am aware the textures don't look to good. I am in the process of retexturing it with the textures from the hourpitores texture pack, and some stock textures. I am also adding static meshes. And, I am going to totally redo the lighting using DavidM's lighting tutorial. I am also aware that you compress in the pressure chamber instead of expand. There is not much I can do about that, that is simply how the pressure volume works in the Unreal 2.5 engine. It would require a buttload of coding to change it, and I do not code.
