| | File Name | dm-eroeh.zip | Author | Wehtam | Gametype | UT2k4 Deathmatch | Date Added | 01-09-2006 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 16.66 mb | Player Count | 4 - 8 | Map Description | About the Map:
This map was designed with the Invasion gametype in mind, I wanted to make a large scale environment that would provide enough space to evade the many waves of attacking monsters. The map is however, playable in Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch Games.
The map includes custom textures, sounds, music and static meshes.
Story:
The city was once a grand and popular place, that is before the sleeper awoke. The Volcano looms over the remaining structures, casting an infectious shadow over the crumbling remains. listen to the city as it begs for mercy, now you will beg too. | Review Rating | -- | User Rating | 7.5 | Overall Rating | -- |

| [N6X]R3plicant 01-09-2006 10:39 AM MST | | Can't tell you how gorgeous it looks from your screenshot images. Amazing! Though sadly I don't currently have a GFX card that is capable of actually seeing the map as it was meant to be seen, rest assured, I'll add to this comment when I have my replacement 6800GT. No rating yet until I have seen the map; which I look forward to.
| OLDMAN(CO30) 01-09-2006 02:21 PM MST | Rating: 7 | | O it looks nice and running twin 6800GTs in Sli lets me crank the settings,I like the feel and layout. The placement of weapons with some of them hidden behind walls a good add. I doin't like the wide open maps where players can nail you from afar, this map provides you with nice pockets to do your dirty work. Almost missed the flak/Redemmer spot, but then again I love to look around for stuff.
| Wesley "Boreas" van Dijk 01-10-2006 03:34 PM MST | Rating: 7.5 | | The rating is for Invasion playability and looks. Some points of advise:
- Take better care of your skybox. The edges are showing. - Take it easy while lighting things. Some parts of stairs and walls are horribly overlit, as well as one of the stone faces.
EDIT: Egyptian? Dude, what are you on :P this is everything except for Egyptian...
| Add_x101 01-10-2006 09:37 AM MST | Rating: 6.5 | | A cool map, plays really well as a DM to. The only issue I have is that It shouldn’t be Egyptian. From those pics I thought you had done some kind of fallen Rome temple, with white marble.
| JuggaloKyle 01-10-2006 06:19 PM MST | Rating: 7 | | Looks good, but the gameplay didn't really seem like it would be good for ut2k4. For some reason, while playing, i thought it felt more of a UC2 map.
Nice job on it.
| canuck 01-13-2006 09:39 PM MST | Rating: 8 | | great map. The visuals are nice and so is the gameplay, but i can't seem to figure out how to get out with the redeemer :P EDIT: thanks for that LOL
| Wehtam 01-12-2006 02:38 AM MST | | @ Everyone
Thank you all for your feedback :)
@ Canuck
With the redeemer in grasp, face out toward the lava, you need to do a dodged+jump to the right hand bank of the lava pit, where the land is at its lowest. It is possible :D
| BuGGle 01-12-2006 11:22 AM MST | Rating: 8 | | Wow, very awesome map, even my cat likes it...redeemer isn't easy to get, lighting is very atmospheric, architecture fits together...I like that one!
| ChromeBallz 01-12-2006 03:45 PM MST | | The only things i can comment on are mere details:
1) You can go around to the back of some of the buildings. They migyht make nice hiding spots, but flow-wise, there's no reason having them. Place them so that you can't circle around to the back (move them entirely against a terrain wall), or make them more interesting by moving them more to the middle and filling the back up.
2) The lighting is very nice but bland in some places - mostly those i just mentioned.
Just some final details to worry about, but for the rest, very nice map.....
| G.Lecter 01-13-2006 12:28 PM MST | Rating: 7 | | For me the map isn't really enjoyable, I never liked terrain maps too much, mainly because most of them tend to offer flat action, they are hitscan dominant and their pickup layout is pretty random. Gameplay-wise this is just another of those terrain maps IMO, yet I enjoyed exploring its different parts. There is an excellent work on the temple buildings, but the terrain is what liked me the most. My only disappointment on the visuals are those re-coloured egytian textures that we've seen already in tons of egyptian maps, and maybe the lighting could have been a bit more 'surprising' (it fits well with the theme as it's now though...) I'd have liked to see a cool layout, more friendly with hardcore DM gameplay, but the map should work well in the gametype it has been designed for... (Invasion).
| redfist 01-14-2006 03:19 AM MST | | I dunno, but those screenshots be looking really nice, that second one is like a lens flare, but is fog I presume.
| SmokeScreen 04-26-2008 02:34 PM MDT | Rating: 8.5 | | Good map. Eycandy + good gameplay = 8.5
