Quake 3 UTX | | Map Info |
| | File Name | quake3utx.zip | Author | Deathbliss | Gametype | UT Other | Date Added | 10-23-2005 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 14.41 mb | Player Count | n/a | Map Description | OK, so a while back I was really into collecting Unreal Tournament maps - namely ones from Dark Elf, Tronic, and a few others. My main focus of course was on Tronic - I was and still am a big fan. With all of these authors, and especially Tronic, I discovered that there were roughly 2 dozen or so different files with same name, that were all different in some way or another. The name of these texture files was Quake3.utx. So I stated merging them together with the aid of some old Unreal Tournament texture tools and I think later on Dragon Unpacker. Some of this work I did manually from within UnrealED. The end result is, "One texture pack to rule them all..." so to speak. With just this one texture pack you will be able to run many maps that used different versions of Quake3.utx. However, the project was never completed and there are a few lesser known maps out there - maybe even a few well known ones, that haven't been merged with this. I am more than willing to continue working on this, but at this point you have to let me know if you want me to. You can do so by starting a thread in my forums(http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~nucleus/SMF/index.php), letting me know which maps with a Quake3.utx texture file you want merged with this - I leave it up to you. | Review Rating | -- | User Rating | 9 | Overall Rating | -- |

| goldfenix 10-27-2005 08:01 PM MDT | | Could ya make some for UT2k4? I like quake and quake textures, but I dont have UT, I have UT2k4. You should make some Q2 textures, because I am going to either remake the Q2 multiplayer map Mad Dash or Agony. Or possibly that map (dont remember the name exactly) that has the bridge and the laser cage that protects the powerups.

| Deathbliss 10-28-2005 09:46 PM MDT | | The point of this, for those who have or will ask, is to have one Quake3.utx texture file running many maps that use a texture file with this name, but which in many cases are different from each other.
I am seriously considering making UT 2004 Quake 3 texture packages since folks seem to want this - I had started it a while back but never finsihed - no promises but I'll see what I can do. Maybe at the very least I can write a tutorial showing how it can be done and with what tools.
We'll just have to wait and see... - Deathbliss

| Evilmrfrank 04-22-2006 11:12 PM MDT | | UTX files from the classic UT can be taken directly and used with UT2003/2004. No need to make a new package unless you are planning on increasing the quality of the textures.
