JB-Divergence | | Map Info |
| | File Name | jb-divergence.zip | Author | Hazel.H | Gametype | UT2k4 Other | Date Added | 09-26-2005 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 10.81 mb | Player Count | 8 - 16 | Map Description | "According to myth, this structure was sucked into the wormhole over a thousand years ago from the orbit of a decaying planet. Nobody knows its exact origins, purpose, or who built it. Plant life still thrives here, and apart from the occasional asteroid collision, the building remains mostly intact."
A medium to large size jailbreak map for 10 - 16 players. Music is the track "Organic" from UT99. It's taken about 6 weeks to build, and I'm working on a CTF version. Enjoy! :)

| MR-Jinxs 09-26-2005 10:00 AM MDT | Rating: 7.5 | | A brilliant newish game type now has a equally as good new map. Is there any more that needs to be addressed, yes the music was a great chose.
There is a downside though the lighting, it does the job but I do feel it could have been done a lot better.
| CursedSoul1 09-26-2005 12:14 PM MDT | | Id like to see the ctf version, becouse i dont have jb. from what ive seen on websites.. it looks very promising.
| Vatcilli zeitchef 09-26-2005 12:34 PM MDT | Rating: 9 | | Don't have JB? You should get it right away! Anyway I'll give it a 9 and get West's comment on rating too high as return when he reads it :P
But I could not care less, since many players would give a 10 for things less good than this.
| INIQUITOUS 09-26-2005 01:38 PM MDT | Rating: 9 | | i agree with Vatcilli zeitchef completely. this map is seriously one of the best. i think it will be a classic :) got nothing bad to say. i luv it. thanks hazel
| Nahand 09-26-2005 01:59 PM MDT | | ... any chance of converting it to a version for JBIII? (y'a know... JB for UT :p )...
| G.Lecter 09-26-2005 05:18 PM MDT | Rating: 8 | | Very good JB map. I hope to see more like this... :D Dislikes: - The layout is cool in the middle, but I don't like it so much in the bases: the paths become symetrical (left=right) and all them merge too far from the switch in an open area where attackers can be an targetted easily [Ehm… that’s not divergence, but convergence… :D]. I think an alternative path that gave attackers the posibility to not be seen so easily would have been good. The way it’s now may encourage switch-camping a bit, but it has its good points as was discussed in the forum… - Maybe it’s just me, but I am used to see those floor textures in lots of industrial maps, and that’s why I think they don’t fit with the theme of the map. - Sometimes you notice the map looks a bit brush-shaped, although the brushwork is excellent. - I sometimes miss more z-axis. No, that’s not enough for me… :D Likes: - Everything else: Good weapon placement, nice jails and execution, an escape route, super cool skybox, etc… Overall, an excellent map. All JB fans should get this one!

| Spudsy 09-30-2005 08:52 PM MDT | Rating: 10 | | The amazing thing about Hazel is she took me by surprise. I never knew who she was, or where she came from, but I'm sure glad she made herself at home in the JB community. Her first ever JB map, JB - Gravity, not only was amazing, but set the bar for which all other maps can be judged. Now her second work, JB - Divergence, only adds to her amazing work. Hazel has easily taken her place among the gods of mapping for JB that we know (Zed, Rev, Rob, Cool, Spoon, maybe a few others), but the amazing thing is she did it in only 2 maps. Divergence is a great map. Equally balanced and fun. The execution is nice, the layout is nice, I find absolutely nothing wrong with this map. I bow to Hazel.
P.S.: Sry bout that Hazel.
| Hazel.H 10-02-2005 11:08 AM MDT | | Wow, I was never expecting this kind of response, shocked actually. A good friend of mine - INIQUITOUS suggested I make a map for Jailbreak, so you have him to thank really. Thanks all for leaving feedback :D
P.S To Spudsy: Just to make things clear I'm a "she" not a "he" Edit: lol no problem it's a common mistake ;)
@goldfenix - I had removed all the weapon base skins :)

There are some females that do, but its kinda hard to tell who is a guy and who is a girl. Anyways, the map had a pretty good theme, all the organic and solid architecture. The jails were alright, but I think it would be a nicer touch to the map if the plants strangled the prisoners or something (which may be hard to do.) Some rooms didn't really feel to well, though, but the map overall isn't bad. I cant remember if you fixed the skins on the weaponbases or not. Almost all mappers except for myself do not empty out the skins for the xNewWeaponBase.
Thankyou for doing that! Finally an author that remembers to do so. Yeah, I saw it when I played your map earlier today. Good.
