Map DescriptionA homage to a map entered way back last year into the Unreal Playground ONS Mapping contest called ONS-HoldingTank. And though it didn't score in the competition it was hugely popular on the UP ONS server. This is my homage to it of sorts, trying to create similar play style, with a sinlge node to fight over and plenty of bumper dodging action.

And if you hadn't noticed, the style/theme has been lifted from CTF-Colossal. :D

Also feautres a secret hidden Blito3, the custom Black Metal Soundtrack track by myself.

Thanks to all the great people at UnrealPlayground who took the time to playest and give feedback, Blitz for his mutator to stop sides switching, Nihil for running the many beta version on his weekend warriors server (and for playtesting it to breaking point :D ) and to Hort for encouragement in general .

w00t. I take back everything. I'll just say that the VCTF that's being refered two was a 10 second afterthought, bashed together in 10 minutes from an early beta of this map. And horses for courses, people who don't like area matches will hate this.

If I can get the money together again to build a machine that is capable of running 2k4 I may fix all the minor stuff. :)

I gave it a nine. cos it unique and fun anf good gfx. Kantham said the other one sucked cos it had major flaws.

No, i didn't said the other one sucked, for me a map that suck is a map that have no work in it.

No , don't be hard on your self Sab, though, you are a quite decent mapper at UP and you have some great photoshop skillz. Though i really, really have to complain about it. I am afraid but it don't changed much "major flaws" are still here since you used the same map and added more details

It plays the same way as the vctf version i am afraid.

The weapon placement is the same for the shock rifle and almost the same for the rest. The arena is the same. No more rooms, still the same arena with new lightning and such details.

The bad points are:

-Only one powernode, which is found in the middle
-Only scorpions again, but they are more effective this time at least. What about mantas/raptors/hellbenders?
-Bad framerates, alot of stuff, optimization would be hard to make here.
-Shock rifle JUst next to spawn points, which make it very hard to focus on the enemy power core since the shock rifle is exelent for defence. Espicality in this map since you only included scorpions.
-I see that your idea was to use VCTF-3on3-colosal to make it a arena. Like alot of mappers would do, you decided to remix a older map of yours and make it onslaught instead of starting a new layout.

The good points

-More details from the vctf version, new lightning.
-Nice decent music, bonus score for that
-Even if the powernode is in the middle, the powernode hologram is kind of hiden inside the catwalk, in that way, it makes it a little harder to hit from a certain angle.
-Weekend warrior? Photoshop skilz does it.
-Nice shader for the preview screen.

I do have a nice pc here, i was refering to the retail maps framerates. They are at 50-30 for now in onslaught most of all time

And this map gives me 20-14 fps.

Looks nice and works OK in 3v3. But with only one node, four weapons and narrow areas to drive I think it's not very enjoyable. I liked how the platform over the node works, though. But, anyways, I find Stratum much more fun and original than this one.
I get about 15FPS too, but I can't complain about that since my computer needs an upgrade...

As far as the gameplay goes what G.Lecter said is about right for me too. Well constructed and no performance issues here.........

I love the map, but the game play for ONS isn't there. However, you already have a pretty good structure for regular CTF. So my sugestion would be to tweek it a bit, and make it a CTF map.
