Was originally running in a slightly less polished form on Jackals Extreme W00t Server.
Weapon placement may seem a little overkill, but nothing too different from the original and given the fast nature of play, bringing things like the redeemer etc to bear has less impact than it would on a much bigger map.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment on stuff through beta testing.
Now running on "Sabby's Extreme w00t" server. :D

| CyMek 08-29-2005 01:46 PM MDT | Rating: 5 | | I don't like w00t, and I would probably love this map were it not for the fact that it is, sadly, a w00t remix. Its a nice change from all the other versions that would lose to a hobo in a beatuy contest, but there is so much going on that I was often distracted. There was some "advertising" in a few places, but it fit in with the theme, and wasn't intrusive at all. The bots seemed to do fine, but some of the jump-pads were a little odd sometimes, and I felt that wither they werent taking me where they were supposed to, or that if they were, they could use a better destination. Its definately worth a playthrough if just for teh original theme. I liked that a lot, but I would love to see a full-scale map that uses this theme.
Edit: Sabbath, I love your other work, I spent an hour playing Joust 2v2 yesterday. I guess I was just exprecting something really fun, but I was dissapointed a little. I'm not a fan of woot at all.

Biggest problem I have with this map is there are just too many items. I mean do we really need 3 redeemers, 2 shield belts, 2 kegs of health, etc on a map this small? Not a big fan of invisibility on ctf maps either, there are 2 of those btw.
Also the big planet texture in the sky box still has the big blue square around it for me (anyone else see that?)
A lot of nice little touches in construction, the "lost in space" death messages, and some custom textures make the map more interesting that the original, but it's still "woot" love it or hate it.

Shame that you lumped it in with all the other w00t remakes - especially since this was made from scrath , with pretty much everything from textures to code (new kickers) done from the ground up - but hey, you're welcome to your opinion -however quick you were to judge.
Nice to know that a month or two's work can be as easily dismissed as it has been.

While I had no problem going off the kickers to the proper destinations, the bots seemed to take different trajectories 75% of the time, which usually meant they would go higher and fall short of their destination, and often die-very strange (this was with air control set to 0% in the UT.ini and momentum from weapons fire set to 0% with a mutator).
Second, the use of a kicker by another pawn caused my machine to stutter-Pentium 3.0, 512 ram w/ a 5700 FX card. Frame rates were otherwise in the 30-40 range.
EDIT: Since someone posted a new comment I'll point out the version on the Extreme Woot Mappack has a fix for the "badly-kickered" bots.

I think the weapons are fine, there aren't any slowdowns unless there is tons of rocket fire and explosions. Good job with this map. Oh BTW sorry GOD__AM I didn't see the blue square.

It's insanely small though, and pretty much a one way path to the base--perhaps you should create more floors and more pathways and make it a little larger? There's not much room for strategy in a map this cramped. (Especially as another said--there's a tad too many weapons and upgrades where there shouldn't be.) I would agree that this is a love it or hate it map, but you still get a 7 for putting a lot of effort here. But it could have been much more then it was. Look forward to your next maps.

The arctitecure is better than w00t (granted the same basic concepts remain the same), texturing, lighting. I don't really care for small CTF maps though, but that doesn't make this bad map at all.
| FraGnBraG 08-29-2005 09:58 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | ...this is a high quality map regardless of its lineage - SabbathCat maps (example STFUAndJump for 2k4, and many others in UT) are uniquely stylized levels that usually contain many personal touches (he does his own coding and artwork) he has also been around for a long time -- if you haven't then go get all his maps :) i like the good job on this one, but i can never play this (or the older versions) online because i suck the worst at wootabulous :D gj SC

I didn't like how that those towers in the middle of the base doesn't reall show anyone that coming from the other sides, and sort of how the weapons are placed through the base. I think that the new lighting was awesome, makes it look nice and cozy. And the Tower in between the bases.
