DM-HyperMoo][ | | Map Info |
| | File Name | dm-hypermoo2.zip | Author | Hazel.H | Gametype | UT2k4 Deathmatch | Date Added | 07-08-2005 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 4.76 mb | Player Count | 4 - 10 | Map Description | "Project HyperMoo - A sanctuary for rare and endangered creatures from across the galaxy." This is a remake of my map DM-HyperMoo for UT99.
I've tried to stick to the original gameplay and architectural concepts whilst adding some different features and new routes to improve flow. The whole map looks quite different from the original, and has been scaled up for UT2004.
There are a couple of hiding spots for invasion players. You can translocate onto the rafters in some places, but there is a secret hiding spot... look for the grate with a missing bar ;)

| Kantham 07-08-2005 01:19 PM MDT | Rating: 6 | | I gave this one 25 frag a go.
My first impression was the frame rates droping from looking at a point to another, the frame rates where low. The gameplay is moslty these ramp that are crossing at each other doing a X
It's not so bad after all, the frame rates are my biggest complain, some of the stairy corridors are dark and don't fit the rest of the level.
I noticed that one meshe was made inside UED, you know that UED don't give a very good result with brush to meshes convertion for lighting and Env map textures.
Teleporters inside a Deathmatch map is rather untolered for some players, i think it's ok though.
I liked the little fish in the aquarium, the item placement is kinda good, and the bots are well pathed as i have juged

Well the biggest thing is all to much gray,or having different looking trims or hallways,or the grate areas you walk on,so it's easier to calculate ware your at. (also I know when your the one making a map you know it from every nook and crany so the mapper knows the map really well) But it needs more varaition because there are so many over, under, steps going up,different exits and enterances, having it more visualy lobbed off sections, like a heater room,a coolent area,an outside brownish area etc etc(example) would make it better to know the map to play it good. There are areas wich do look different, but I mean on a larger scale, and more of it,sort of mabye slighly more color in some lights.
The aquariums very nice,I wish they were brighter or some more color like blue so they stand out more, they also seem grayish and not bright enough.
And map did seem to run sluggish, more than other maps, for me I would chop off a section but ,it's hard saying it seems to big and too many places to go,not bad though. This level needs several players ,slightly too big for me. However map is pretty good.same score as above but adding .5 for the aquariums.

You got those cool aquariums and fish and whatnot, all the organic arborean stuff, and the base is chalked full of architecture and technology. It's also got many floors, nooks, and legdes to climb on, to hide on and snipe. The only thing that dissapointed me was the name of the map and how not every aquarium dealio had animals in it. Wow, Aquaf thinks I have no imagination.... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HE HE HE HE HE HE HA AH HA!!!!!!!!!!!
| CursedSoul1 07-14-2005 02:28 PM MDT | Rating: 6 | | big, decent layout, decent detail, dull lighting.
edit: @ Aquaf: I tend to ignore gooftards that only make an account so they can help backing up their mapper friend, for no good reason i might add.
| Aquaf 07-12-2005 04:06 PM MDT | Rating: 10 | | This map rules, seriously, its got everything. the lighting is perfect. the lighting sets the atmosphere.dont listen to them =D the auqariums, more blue, do u hav any idea how hard it is to do aquariums! good f...ing job hazel, its amazing, soo much eye candy and things to look at. its my new fave map. soo original. the guy who wanted more monster in the habitats=u wann try and model and animate etc....your own monsters. its fine, leave it to ur imagination or get one if you dont hav one.dont ever put a crappy skaarj in a tank, that would be stupid. BIG, u all think its BIG, WTF, errrrr hav u played Goliath, or Tokora Forest, or Asbestos, or Osiris, or errr almost every other map except Gael.so i guess in all ur books, those maps and countless others all get low scores because "wah wah there too big" "wah i cant jump from one side of the room to the other wah" . anyways....this map rocks. its ace. i love it. been soo long since a really good original map came out.good job Hazel!! hope to see more cool maps from u, and OMG the map name is sooo coool, wish id thought of that.
oh FPS were excellent on my com. maybe time u all upgraded :) =D
| Fuzzy Logic 07-15-2005 05:38 AM MDT | Rating: 6 | | HyperMoo? Wouldn't HyperZoo be better? Anyway, dumb name aside, this is not a bad map. It has some nice features and plays well - with the exception of the cenrtal area. What are all those ramps about, they really confuse things. Tidy that up and this will be a great map. Other parts of the map a quite impressive though.
| MooMasterCowman 08-14-2005 06:18 AM MDT | | haven't played it yet, so i'll ask- are there any cows? take one look at my name and you'll see why i'm asking :P
| Hazel.H 08-17-2005 11:51 AM MDT | | The UT99 version had cows, but I couldn't find any to go in this one :(
| Wesley "Boreas" van Dijk 10-12-2005 03:40 AM MDT | Rating: 8.5 | | Awesome map! Except for all those slanting ramps next to eachother...
| Manticore 10-13-2005 04:40 AM MDT | Rating: 6 | | The map is average in my opinion. The slanting ramps are very Deck. Construction lacked in places. Some of the feature deco was nice but....
Not as enjoyable as CTF-Divergence.....
