| | File Name | dm-sweet-death.zip | Author | ADVMAN | Gametype | UT2k4 Deathmatch | Date Added | 05-19-2005 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 14.06 mb | Player Count | 0 - 16 | Map Description | "Sweet Death" is a relatively big deathmatch map with indoor and outdoor action for 6 to 16 players. High connectivity and fast transport via two teleporters and 12 jump pads keep the action going. There is one shield, one keg of health and one double damage, but no super weapons. I hate super weapons. They ruin any game and there is nothing more annoying than the moment when you skillfully hunt someone down and suddenly - boom - a redeemer goes off.
"Sweet Death" was intended as a remake of Adam "Senn" Bellefeuil's map "Agony & Ecstasy" for Quake III. I always fancied this map for its gameplay. A relatively small map with two courtyards symmetrically linked via three pairs of connections, with three height levels vertically connected by two jump pads and a teleporter. The initial idea of a simple remake was quickly forgotten as the map began to grow. After two betas in December 2003 and January 2004 I somehow lost interest and ... but read the full story at my website http://purl.oclc.org/NET/advman/maps/
Original music "The Plea, Intro" by GERRY COOPER (http://www.soundclick.com/gwcooper) used with kind permission of the composer.
PLEASE NOTE: This map is designed to be played with "weapons stay" set to OFF, no low-grav and no translocators. | Review Rating | -- | User Rating | 4.5 | Overall Rating | -- |

| Manticore 05-21-2005 09:16 PM MDT | Rating: 4 | | This is a good example of doing just about everything wrong with a DM map.
The four is for effort. Nothing more.
| Fuzzy Logic 05-22-2005 05:02 AM MDT | Rating: 3 | | Min 6? Should be min 26... Poor design overall: large empty areas, tight corridors and terrible lighting. The bots tend to favour one courtyard too. Gameplay is a disaster :(
