| Bellasadda 04-29-2005 11:18 AM MDT | Rating: 6 | | Gauntlet for UT99 was probably one of the most frustrating maps for me to play through in single player mode. Unfortunately, not a lot has changed from the original version to fix its already existing problems. The map is still asymmetrical (which actually isn't all that bad, but one team does have a slight advantage) and there are still massive choke points going into the flag room. The good news is that the map looks great. Just like the rest of the flag pack, there is a great attention to detail. The maps visuals are what make it really worth playing. It doesn't hurt that the scale is spot on as well.
You'll probably have to take my opinion with a grain of salt, because I have such a dislike for the original. I think that this is a bit of a missed opportunity, though. It would have been really cool to see the theme overhauled with maybe a tech theme or industrial, or something completely new.
