A crazy and fun time with some odd assembly.

Cerwin Vega's CTF-Intergalactic is one of those maps that's a ball to play but assembled just oddly. You've got an arena set on a space ship; to that end, there's the obligatory windows peeking out to stars, sliding doors, Jeffries-tube-esque side passages, and even a storage area, with crates and the flak cannon. By far the most exciting - and sometime maddening - part of this level, however, is the glass doors that only open for either red or blue which guard the shortest path between the flags.

The flow in this level is well-intentioned but poorly executed. Despite the fact that there are a multitude of ways to get from Flag Room A to Flag Room B (including one bizzare under-the-arena water tube?) the flow of the level had me getting snagged on corners and passages. Also, some of the hallways are entirely too narrow and leave you no room to dodge; skill is not required for a kill at that point. Finally, many areas do not have textures that help clue you in as to your location - I found myself getting lost at first until I figured out the layout and paths. And I never have figured out how to get those health vials - you'll see what I mean.

Despite these issues, the fact still remains that this map is a fun. I'm a sucker for it all: screaming at the team-triggered doors when I'm carrying the flag and getting painted with minigun fire...trying to hide and dodge between the crates and stuff in the "storage area" and more.

So regardless of some of the technical shortcomings, I recommend this level for your next LAN party...so that you can scream at the doors as well. Download it and try it out today.

Why a 6.5 for such a good map. Try to make 1
yourself maybe then you will see how hard it can be.

Why does this have a higher score than any of Swanky's maps.
You guys need to stop giving charitable 8-10s for effort and be more realistic.
