DM-1on1-Nature | | Map Info |
| | File Name | dm-1on1-nature.zip | Author | W@rdw@rf | Gametype | UT2k4 Deathmatch | Date Added | 02-01-2005 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 4.41 mb | Player Count | 2 | Map Description | This old nature-museum had seen better times. There were not as many visitors as used to be 10 years before. Then, a gas explosion completely knocked out its budget, the museum had to be sold, Liandri bought it and it became a Storage for tournament items, until the tournaments got bigger and bigger. It became too small and was turned into an 1on1-Arena.
Well, another 1on1-Map with bricktexes all around the map... But it looks good and plays good, though it's a very tiny map and I had serious problems placing items without getting it too full :D.
Have Fun!

EDIT: Nice looking map, but the hourtex pack as part of the necessities is a bit much. That aside, I found weapon layout to be a bit too much, possible to get all the powerful weapons in rapid succession. Also rough on the edges, I could shieldjump into a big open hole, but it's only sealed off by blockingvolumes, while the rest has nice planks in front of it...
| Vertigo 02-01-2005 05:41 PM MST | | hey dude, the screenies look great. i would write a review if i could but IM HAVING F*CKING CONNECTION PROBLEMS SINCE 10-12 DAYS AGO AND ITS PISSING ME OFF HELL!!!!
| nELs0n 02-01-2005 05:54 PM MST | Rating: 6.5 | | now... this one looks kinda nice. lighting is pretty cool - maybe a bit too colorful in some places and there's one white light and it doesn't really fit the rest of the map imo. the floorplan is ok - just like the overall museum-like theme and i especially like that elevator with the little 'out of order' sign =) oh and something really refreshing is the texture-usage - hourences' textures (hour-indus-pack required!!!) really kick ass and you don't get that 'i've been exactly here before...' sort of feeling... anyway - good work so far!
| sandorski 02-01-2005 08:13 PM MST | Rating: 7.5 | | Very nice 1on1. Unlike many other 1on1s this one is just the right size, no matter where you are your opponent is close by. Looks very nice too with great lighting and Ambience. I think the weakest part though is the Layout has very little Z-Axis and most Action occurs in only a couple open hallway(ish) areas(top level and bottom level).

| G.Lecter 02-03-2005 03:21 PM MST | Rating: 6.5 | | Hey, why didn't you packed all the custom textures you used in your own map (myLevel package)??? The Hourences texture pack is a too heavy download and many people have not got it. OK, I played it a little, here is my opinion: - Visuals are very good. I liked the bird sounds too. (As I said avobe, the problem is the 50MB Hourences texture pack is necessary...) - Framerates are a bit low for me, I think FPS are really important in 1on1 maps. - Gameplay is not so good as DM-Dusk in my opinion. There is very little effective z-axis and most of the map is quite cramped. I also miss some liftjumps. - The bot played well, it jumped on the big stone more than once to take the 100shield.
| D-7 02-04-2005 05:28 PM MST | Rating: 6 | | looks nice, but... -too cramped, too small, not fun. -bots keep using the elevator out of order for liftjump while I'm too clumsy for it. -vegetation should disappear on low world detail settings
| Manticore 02-20-2005 01:52 AM MST | Rating: 6 | | I have to agree with what G.Lecter said about the texures needing to be repacked into MyLevel. Other than that what Sandorski and D-7 said.........
| Xiphon 03-17-2005 01:04 AM MST | Rating: 9 | | I thought the map was very well put together. Wonderful color scheme, skybox, sounds, everything worked very nicely.
The bots played well, and i enjoyed the layout, very explorative with some interesting, and memorable locations. I enjoyed the "hidden" route with the broken elevator requiring a very difficult lift jump (i swear, that thing gave me more trouble than the one in temple of trials).
All in all, I enjoyed this a lot. My only beef with it is that the theme didn't follow the description. This looks like a run down factory rather than a nature museum. Anyway, good job!
