| souldividersjosz 01-18-2005 08:06 AM MST | Rating: 5 | | Flat, combination of meshes that don't fit together, use of very simplistic BSP, weird lighting, lots of ammo, and sniper heaven. Not my cup of tea Maybe a bit harsh, but please, try and make a map with a consistent theme, this map is just elements from various themes glued together, and it's not looking too good. I think people will prefer FacingWorlds over this :P
EDIT: I take it that Jackle and shift are mappers? or just people that play? EDIT2: Now hold on, don't go twisting my words on this, I never said that a player's opinion doesn't count or counts less, I just happen to think that mappers in general know more about theme consistency. Nothing personal...
| Jackle 01-17-2005 11:48 AM MST | Rating: 7 | | I disagree.... I believe this combination of meshes is artistic orginality. It looks good, i love the skybox! Not the greatest map of all time, but i like it.
| shift 01-18-2005 06:48 AM MST | Rating: 8 | | I love this map. Me and my friends have already had a number of games on it. My pet hate on most CTF levels are the over use of corridors. I love open spaces. There is a fair chance of comeback when someone takes the flag and that's what makes the game exciting. Its only a short distance from each base as well so there'll always be action.... Like Face classic... Even with bots its a great map to play. Lighting is fine, open air, nice feel to it. Consistent themes are all well and good, but with DividedLand2 all the elements that make a pretty enjoyable CTF game are in there and then some.
EDIT: Sure I map, I play...No, I don't build levels. And In no way am I trying to bring down the guys who build levels...How can I? But players have opinions and those are the opinions that account for a high majority of valid level critiquing, surley?
| Wehtam 01-18-2005 10:10 AM MST | | So, your saying then, that a players opinion is not valid? that only another mapper can comment on a map? You have to be kidding me.
| G.Lecter 01-19-2005 02:45 PM MST | Rating: 6.5 | | Hey, everyone has right to put his own opinion... (if it is not spam / offensive / friendrating / revenge...) A player opinion is as important as another one... It's true that mappers/reviewers are used to give lower scores than players, but, if everyone would give the same rating, this would be really boring! I played it a little. Here a few thingies... Not good: - I did not like very much the visuals: The paths look too meshy. However, the buildings look really cubish. The sniping towers could have been much better with a lift instead all those stairs... - Gameplay is flat. Flat CTFs work well, but I miss some more z-axis. - Most of the weapons are focused around the same point. - Reedemer & SniperRifle are in the same position. - Some trees have collision & it's possible jumping on the leaves, but there are some other trees where it's impossible doing that... (bah, not really important...) - I have not seen the bots sniping. I have not seen them using the translocator to switch paths either... - Maybe 50shields instead supershields?? Good: - The sniping positions work very fine... - The bots have a few glitches, but they use all the paths correctly and play a good match. - Great framerates (perfect to snipe... :D) It could be better, but it is fun playing this level. Recommended downloading to all those who like Facing-style CTFs...
