ONS-Stratum | | Map Info |
| | File Name | ons-stratum.zip | Author | SabbathCat | Gametype | UT2k4 Onslaught | Date Added | 01-04-2005 | File Version | 1.00 | File Size | 11.28 mb | Player Count | 0 - 14 | Map Description | A tribute to Terry Pratchett and his original "Strata" novel which was the seed for the phenominally successful Discworld series.
In the original book the "flatworld" was actually a mechanical thing rather than a magical thing and this is a small tribute to the world described in the book.
The map features some new meshes, low g, stunt vehicles, new textures, and brand new music composed by yours truely. ;)
Thanks to all who helped make it what it is by responding to all of the numerous beta treads, AquaBlue and Mango especially.
And an extra special thanks to Blitz for explaining to me how to do the "no-swap-sides" thing with diagrams and monosyllabic, step-by-step instructions. You rule! :D | Review Rating | -- | User Rating | 7 | Overall Rating | -- |

| demonofshoes 01-05-2005 01:48 PM MST | Rating: 7 | | this level worked fine on my machine. this is a very good level. small but full of action. but i feel you don't need that many scorpians at the beggining. however i like the amount of flying vhicles you put in. keep up the good work :)
| G.Lecter 01-06-2005 09:00 AM MST | Rating: 8 | | Big comment this time... First, it needs the ECE bonus pack: http://download.beyondunreal.com/fileworks.php/official/ut2004/ut2004-ecebonuspack1-1.exe - Visuals: the visuals are well done, making a new, peculiar and interesting space theme, the lighting is OK too. there are some nice coloured lights that make the map much nicer without hurting my eyes. Framerates are low sometimes, this is probably because the big floating disc has been made in a big single static mesh. Runs OK in my computer, but it could not work well in older machines. - Layout: The design is greatly oriented to lowgrav. I like the idea of the small floating disc. Most of the battles take place on the edges of the stratum and it is really fun kicking both players and vehicles out... - Placement: Weapons, vehicles and items are well placed too, maybe a lot of pickups around the boxes. Both land and air battles. The only bad thing I have seen is the SPMA does not work as well as I would have liked. - Bots: Bots give a nice match. - Music: Oohhh... the music is awesome. Fits perfectly with the theme and encourages me to play the level again and again. - LinkSetups: 3 different linksetups for diferent styles: 1.Default, 2.Linear, and... 3...Stange. A must for lowgrav fans, and very original map for the rest of us...

| Pontius Caffienate 01-11-2005 05:07 AM MST | Rating: 8.5 | | Ran great for me, I glitched a bit flying around up high, but that's cos i play with high detail. I thought the lighting was realistic enough, the only thing I didn't like were the corona on some of the coloured lights - and maybe on the big disk thing.. The special fx (the spinning light on the underside especially) look mega :)
I found the secret vehicle too - I am so proud!
| SabbathCat 01-23-2005 06:35 PM MST | | Dunno why it wouldn't show up in menu other than dropping the map in the wrong place or extracting from winzip with folders and accidentally creating a Maps/Maps folder - which I've had happen a few times where people have stuck folders inside zips rather than straightforward files.
This one will be the first in a series of similar style maps if I can get time enough to figure out what I need to know to make the stuff I'll need to in maya ple or gmax. :)
Has anyone seen this online anywhere yet? :)?

| Manticore 02-20-2005 02:16 AM MST | Rating: 7 | | Average gameplay. Poor framerates and questionable lighting. Interesting concept though....... but space platforms have been done to death in UT99 and UT2K*.
