he has put work into the texturing and lighting, at least, if not the architecture
its an interesting take on normal Deck 16
Why is it so important to you people that maps are "all" original, normal deck 16 is over played, i hate its textures now, this is a nicer version
given, the author would have been better giving credit to the original author, but still, its a good map, i dont care if it was built from an existing map, its pretty good remake, and i will rate it so

I don't understand, obviously you gave many effort in remaking this map to look and feel like Curse][, Nice touch, it is truely an eyecandy to have. Giving a 7,5 to the originality of the remake of Deck16][ but try to make these kind of maps, try it on your own. You are going the right way, don't listen to the 0.5-raters because they don't like Deck16][ or Curse][ thats a fact, and only read the positive comment because they are serious :D, still making my own map and this map gave me some inspiration. Good job ;) next time be more innovative and make your OWN maps :D because they will own i guess hehe..

It looks very bland, very monotonous. I wonder how many textures were used..............
The ligthing, is slightly better. Which is a relief. But it's only slightly. Coloured lighting, you have to be carefull when it comes to this. Luckily, it's almost bearable this time. In Deck16, or Deck16][ the lighting is pure crap.
The author got rid of the dead ends in this map. That's a nice touch. The dead end near the flak cannon (upper part) is gone -> Which leads to the Udamage room. The lower part: There's a connection between the jumpboots and the shockrifle.
Weapon placement is exactly the same. Why on earth is that friggin' deemer included again... People can, yet again, pistoncamp near the spawnpoint. Bad, bad bad..
There should be workaround to this "problem"...
Some areas look very, very empty (first flak cannon area). The slime areas are removed, which is good... but it's so empty now.
I can't really say: "Nice job on your map", because it's not. There are "nice" ideas implemented, but most are executed poorly. Daft looks, architecture.. minor changes (some are good as I've stated before)...
To the author: Try making a real map. Spend time on the geometry, on the lighting, on details (sounds) and whatnot. Work on it.
Stuff like this doesn't really cut it. You have the feeling of "been there, done that" or "not again".
The curse textures are old. Very old. And lots of maps use this texture set. And it can make the map look very dull.
But, don't give up. Keep experimenting ;-) with Ued. Keep mapping. Make a real map.

A noobie mapper shouldn't be given a high rating just because he's a noob and he needs encouraging. Puhleese. It distorts the whole rating system.
[EDIT] Uh? Everyone who's ever played UT knows Deck 16. And *IF* he's not a newbie, then I suggest he proves it by making *original* maps. Because re-hashing old maps does not prove that you aren't a newbie, ok? In fact, it's exactly what new mappers do do. lol, I don't know why I used noob.. I *hate* l337 speak. :p

I like it, and I don't care how many of you hate me for it. When DM-TheDeck was created and released for UT04, I bet many of you posted it with 0.5's and such because it was a deck remake, now look at it, it got CliffyB's Ownage! All you people say is "Make a real map", but how many of you have attempted and/or released a "Real" map. It's not as easy to do as most think!

Im a newbie mapper 2 so what if deck 16 been done 100 times before no one forces u to download it. People should really start to score maps on effort, someone has tried to put in to making a map. Its not easy trying to come up with an original map. Yes yes I know what most ppl will say not much effort gone into this map, maybe so for a experienced mapper this map might only have taken a few hours but for someone who is new to mapping it takes a hell of alot longer. To the PPl who are experienced mapper should know better. Give [Viking]Warrior constructive opinion to help him improve that way he get more knowlegde on how to do things better.

There are plenty more out there if u look for them. Also before submiting maps to here, u can get them tested in the forums first and they will help u to inprove your map and tell you the things that could be done better. Also there are channels on mirc u can go to for help as well [ Quakenet.org #unrealed ] Keep maping. [EDIT] XepptizZ Not saying a original map can't be done as u have already said there are loads on NC but some ppl are more creative than other's. I agree with what u have said here but this has just not been the case with this map. and maybe i have given this map a to higher rating but then i am still learning myself but imho i don't think its worth a 0 or 0.5 as same effort has gone in to it. There are changes to the map,lighting is better ok so that might not be hard to have done but he did do it then there the screen shots man been plenty of map put on NC without those. But im not saying this map is perfect its far from it but i just think ppl should judge the map on whats been done to it by him, not just give a zero because is a remake.

Rating remakes should be on the changes so a ten is excluded IMO, I didn't dl it and so I shouldn't rate it, but there wouldn't be much constructive stuff to give. And again, the lighting is better, but wasn't hard to improve in the first place.
