MetalHeck is an huge outdoor map who have some interesting architecture . The layout have been confusing the first time but after it's good .
the weapons placement are not great ( there are too many weapons in a small place ) and the map have need more colours . the bad points is the framerate , i have a lot of freeze screens on my PC , maybe the size of the outdoor zone . Also , the bots works well but have some troubles with the movers and the different ways . i find some bots stucks in the bases.
But is it a nice idea , the outdoor zone is huge .
Just works more on the skybox and the pathing and this map will be very good !!!

A very cool ctf. When I first saw the screenshot I thought it looked kinda like the style of a mapper by the name of eBolt (I think), tho when actually jumping in, it stood on it's own stylewise. Little choppy at times on by 1.4gig Ge4Ti4200 dinosaur, but lots of fun to be had here. Nice to see quality UT stuff still being made.

I expect a 1.1 release is at hand... in which hopefully I can get some professional weapon placement advice and fix the immense load of Reachspecs that cause the bot problems. Note the Readme file. It has a lot of the problems pointed out.

The lighting is boring as shit; I don't need to be told twice. Thanks. :) I probably won't do much with it though, since Total Annihilation's Metal Heck isn't a colorful map (it's actually less colorful than this map).

Ah, yeah, I was GOING to add a skybox, but I got lazy and was anxious to release the map. I could make the thing I had in mind for 1.1 as the skybox (it won't be your typical boring-ass landscape cube--think more along the lines of CTF-(FalloutII)'s skybox (great map by the way).

Also note; if you want to play without weapons using Excessive or something, email me at my gmail address and I'll return your message with a 2MB or so .rar/.zip (say what you want in the message) of CTF-MetalHeckNW.unr, which has smoother botplay.

*** [Edit 2] To those folks giving this map 2.5--thanks for the comments, but what you pointed out was stuff I already addressed in the readme file. Did you read it? And since this map is based off of another map from another game, I tried to stay as close to the original as possible by avoiding the red/blue cartoon-flavored visuals common in almost every other CTF map out there. Sorry if it doesn't suit your tastes, but your blatant contrast doesn't suit the original map's taste. :) But you can't please everyone, so I appreciate your feedback regardless. If I find time to crank out this other CTF idea I have, some of you will probably like it more.

And can someone suggest some lighting tips? I've always had trouble with it. Maps like this one especially with so many "buildings" everywhere have given me hell.

Unfortunately, I don't have a killer rig here with lots of memory, and there were times, when a lot was happening onscreen, that I thought I was watching "The Matrix" in 'bulletime'.....having said that, I LIKE this map. The layout is exceptional, with way too much ammo. Just the kind of map I like. Ya'll should try low grav with the 'volatile ammo' mutator for a real fireworks show.

Ah, to have Alienware right now...sigh....wink

hmm where can I start?
-Have a look at this textures. What kinda style is that? The same textures on the walls as on the floor, not very beautiful!
-Trims are very rare
-This should be a weaponplacement? To put some ammo in every corner and sometimes 2 weapons at the same place? You must be kidding! The same thing with the health vials and the armour...can't believe
-lighting is boring, everywhere you look it is the same. You can't tell if this is the red base or the blue, because there is no difference! No matter where you look... there are no contrasts or some specials...
architecture is ok (wow!) but nothing special, sometimes there are big empty walls, come on! Didn't you have some more ideas for details?
-Botpathing? Hmm? whats that....
All in all you can be happy with my rating of 2.5!!!
