Map DescriptionThis is a straight conversion from my first effort for UT2003, with the following exceptions. Lifts now work when stood on, lava texture changed and now kills instantly, conveyor slowed down and friction altered, lighting darkened to make it more moody and bot pathing redone as for some reason the bots became stupid when the map was resaved as a UT2004 map, also got rid of the need for the decayed mesh. Anyway i hope you all like this version, happy fragging!

Now this map is really working fine. Lots of mood - the reworking of the Light and Shadows has really brought this classic UT Map up for play with a better overall atmosphere and the best thing is that everything works.

There are a few surprises tucked away in areas that most don't usually frequent so keep a sharp eye out. The re-work of the conveyor to really slow it down works great. The molten metal looks like it should and as the author says - it does kill. Move of the Damage Amp back over the pool where it was and sitting there on a narrow beam makes it a lot more dangerous to go after. Watch your step it is easy to get knocked off there or take a misstep. There are a few new weapons in this map from the original and they only add to the fun. BTW I for one do not mourn the death of the Razor Gun. :-)

The bots are definitely tough in this version as they were in the original and they know thier way around really well. I never saw one the was just standing around waiting to be killed. They were were always in the thick of things. Play this map against the bots and it's a matter of run run run and frag frag frag or you will find yourself with the short end of the stick. You just might anyway.

This map isn't redone to take advantage of all of the newest game play moves such as the double dodge etc. It is a classic brought into the latest version of this game that we all love. It makes for some pretty heavy frag'n either againt the bots or your buddies and it really runs fast. Frame Rate is high. So watch your back not only against the bots but your buddy as well.

Now go and get this map, Jump and Run and Frag, Frag and Frag some more.

THE GOOD:

A Proven Formula. If you owned the original Unreal Tournament, chances are that you ended up sinking at least one match into DM-Conveyor. This particular update sticks close to the original's roots, offering an almost identical gameplay experience backed by acceptable bot support for offline play.

THE BAD:

Lighting. Darkness is heavily overused in this map, while the textured shadows seem to cut off at awkward points, hurting their believability. A few visible texture seams and a generally bland visual aspect further diminish the map's overall attractiveness.

THE VERDICT:

A faithful, if somewhat lacklustre conversion of an old favorite.
