Map DescriptionThis map is an adaptation of Hydro16. Hydro16 is not played in clanwars anymore, and hardly on FFA. The map was just too big, and too defensive. I wanted to make a map that is fun to play on FFA and in clanwars. I am not an artist, so I didn't want to be bothered about picking textures and stuff. So I took Hydro as a start. (I couldn't reach Sidney 'Clawfist' Rauchberger, so I hope he is ok with it. The original is almost 4 years old).

Changes:
- flagruns are now down from 50 seconds to 20-25 seconds
- rooms are smaller, bridges are shorter
- third bridge added in midfield, with amp
- snipertower is smaller, and has shieldbelt
- rooms inbase are smaller, and more open
- 2nd window to courtyard added
- lots of ammo removed, to prevent spam
- some trickjumps/dodges added
- banners and crates in midfield to limit sniper control of midfield
- invisible collision hulls added to prevent getting stuck

Hopefully these changes make the map a lot faster, and a lot more fun to play. The map is available on the european iNzane FFA servers. Hopefully it will be picked in the maplist of the next clanbase cups.

A little bit changed CTF-Hydro16

EDIT:Never did I say this was that bad. I'm not rating it, because my rating wouldn't be fair for the improved gameplay aspects.
I didn't like playng the original map with my buds, we could never cap eachothers flag.

... effectively making it a Hydro16 LE... i don't condemn him, but for a defensive map (like he says), why did he included a ShieldBelt at Sniper area???...

Whatever...hydro not a good map?

I'm sorry, but it's one of the maps that still make UT lives...specially one of my favo's though...
I can't rate something that I have rate already..

I cant really give it a rating but it is a lot smaller thats a +. It is hard as heck to beat on masterful inhuman or godlike{in which i do play it on}. not once did i notice them getting stuck. Great improvement{sorry epic} to hydro

[EDIT] I'm not getting pulled into a flame war, so let me explain this. hydro is a retail map, yes?
good, now we've cleared that up!
Now, it's concept, flow, brushwork, lighting and texturing were thought out by someone else and not
by you from it's birth. Yes you changed some aspects of this map but the map still remains as hydro.
if you had done this map as an original concept then my score would have been very high as would the praise for the building of it.
i know this map has been mentioned quite alot but look at deck40, themed on deck but plays, looks and feels nothing like the original, infact bot40 totally
REBUILT it making it his OWN creation, if he had added/removed a few parts i wonder how it would have been received? To me mapping is about getting an idea and putting it into practise, making from scratch.

i could take all retail maps and make them better gameplay, but taking a new idea and making good gameplay is very hard to pull off, since you cant play the finished map before you start to design it can you?!? example here! take gauntlet, it has 1 spawn point that is to close to an edge and its annoying as hell, but if i changed that to improve gameplay (as it would) and i released it and claimed to improve it, i would be blasted for it.
Something like "it's got nothing changed:s i can't see the point in this map"

you see what i mean now? your building something that has already got almost everthing done for you.
also to call my maps sh!t is terrible, ive had bad comments on maps but have never slammed someones map to retaliate a bad word, to me thats just childish.

THEY DON"T JUDGE A MAP FROM WICH THE MERIT IT WAS BUILT ON.
You ought to see how they torched me.I might send mabye one more level,and possibly look for another site.they don't even have the balls to give a score,if ya know what I mean.
Accept for me it was quake1 maps,wich i remmoved now.
,good luck.My quake1 maps were for nostalgia sake not realy to be commented on.Just wait till you see my next quake1 map for ut04,there zero button is gonna get worn out,there all gonna have to get new keyboards heh.I dont play to much ctf.

EDIT Right Quilion right,now go look at what score you placed on my dm-3polerf map.I even did my own review on it heh.hell i removed my comments from your levels (including your first map),of wich I tried to point out a few things WITH THE MAP.
But ,oh well.

Yeah, sure, I suck. I didn't come up with my own theme, didn't do my own textures, and didn't picked the colors myself.

WHO THE FUCK CARES ?

My goal was to make a map that is enjoyable to play. Tell me, if the original Hydro was such a great map, then why is it *NOT* played online anymore ? The creativity I put into my version of the map was all targeted towards gameplay. The details of the gameplay issues are probably to hard for most of you to understand. So what, this map was not made for you "artists". It was made for UT CTF NW players.

Redfist, as far as I can see, you have only submitted DM maps. So what do you know about CTF gameplay ?

Quillion, I had a look at both your CTF maps. I must say they look OK (but very bland, nothing original). But for the rest they are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Useless for gameplay. Worthless. Crap. Utter shite. Read this article: http://www.clanbase.com/column.php?nid=177 and try to understand all the mistakes you made. If you don't understand, I'd be happy to give you objective explanations. (And I'll be a little less agressive than I am in this comment).

You guys want to rate my map 0 ? Fine. But you should realize that my attempt is to create a map that can be played online. All you great artists with your great ideas have produced in 5 years time only 8 (eight!) maps that are seriously played (Glacier, Incinerator, Infested, Lucius, NovCE, Ranel, Revenge, Terra). And maybe another handful of maps that are fun and played regularly, but are not really as good as those first 8. (McSchwartzly, Thorns, Sprinta). And maybe a few that are not accepted yet, but might become popular. (AreaN23, Ronsico).

If you guys know so much about good mapping, show me your CTF map that can be used for serious FFA and clanwars.
