The Short Review: A visually interesting map with a bit of originality in the gameplay but bot support problems hold it back. Some may find the limited number of vehicles takes from the fun.
The Long Review:
Awe: This map has a lot of indoor components to it- all but one of the powernodes is indoors, and the structures are quite detailed and look very nice. what of the map is outdoors is also done very nicely, with good use of terrain decor and meshes. although outside is the standard green grass and blah sky fare, it is all nicely done, and this map is attractive enough to pull you in for a few games, with no serious visual problems detracting from the view. This map says loudly (but not shouting), "play me." (Score: 2.0/3)
Build: The problems in this map almost entirely lie in the bot support; although not completely broken, suffers some problems. The map has few vehicles and places to drive them, but when a bot hops in a vehicle, he either does nothing or bumbles around trying to find his way onto a path. It is an unusual event to see bots driving a vehicle more than a short distance from a spawn point, although once in a while a bot will make it to the other base in a vehicle. In the gameplay center of the map is a bridge, with water below. If a bot falls in the water, it will not be able to find a way back up. (human players can get out easily enough however.) To help gameplay, since there is no reason to go in the water here, the water should be deadly, which will also prevent bots from getting forever stuck there. Some good things to note is the things some people for some reason fail to do properly: The radar map is there, the preview screenshots are there, and the map includes a variety of link setups (the default is probably best.) (Score: 1.5/3)
Cast: This map has unique gameplay, that may or not be popular with your typical ONS crowd, though I happen to like it. The layout of the nodes is similar to ONS-Frostbite with the horseshoe layout. With all the power nodes except the 'center' one in an enclosed space, they are difficult to attack, but not overly ridiculous. The powercore is particularly hard to damage making it hard to score, but also not ridiculous. My main complaint is the limited supply of vehicles and their limited use in this map. you cannot drive the vehicles into the buildings to attack the nodes or core, that u must do on foot. In the northwest and northeast corner nodes however, good vehicle cover fire can make attacking the nodes much easier. Requireing good teamwork to successfuly attack any node, this map is above average for gameplay and is definitely worth a few plays. Try it out. (Score: 2.0/3) |

| hatrabit 08-18-2004 05:36 PM MDT | Rating: 6.5 | | if the bots were improved this map would be alot more fun. for the item placement it needs more weapon lockers, and the amount of health in the main bases is beyond overkill :)
| mangan }swe{ 08-22-2004 04:12 AM MDT | Rating: 6.5 | | liked this map it looke good accept for some details. item placement was not the best health was a little concentrated and the lift almost killd me and the fog got weird wher there was no fog in the base
| Draco 09-16-2004 06:33 PM MDT | Rating: 7 | | Nice map.
| kingmango 09-17-2004 04:56 AM MDT | Rating: 6 | | I feel this map has a sharp learning curve. But I found some good tactics on it and some good games. I still can't find my way to the damn roof yet though, and that really pisses me off. lol Also too many dead ends in the map. I don't like going someplace that leads basically nowhere. The coridoors should have been at least twice as wide though. I feel like I'm trying to assault Gaurdia occasionally. Visually it's very pleasing and offers lots of tactical opps, but there's too many other small niggles to give it a really high score like it could have earned IMO.
Hellbender rules on this map and that's a nice change.
BTW to the reviewer, there is a reason to go in the water you just didn't look hard enough :D
| sandorski 09-22-2004 04:37 AM MDT | Rating: 6.5 | | This is a very good ONS Map with a very good layout. The last Node to the PowerCore is very difficult(at least for me). Still some fog issues, but improved over the beta versions.
