| Moriyosi 09-06-2004 07:04 AM MDT | Rating: 6 | | THE GOOD:
The Gimmicks. DockStation's UEd gimmicks are what lift it from total obscurity, map-wise. Exploding barrels and moving spacecraft break up the monotony at the top of the station, while the lower area features walls that periodically drop down, turning the immediate environment into five self-contained "deathmatch cells". None of this makes the level a must-have, but it's nice to see authors attempting to get creative with the editor.
THE BAD:
Layout. Architecturally speaking, DockStation is no great shakes, consisting of just two "rooms" separated by what feels like a half-mile of elevator, with prefabs thrown haphazardly into the mix to spice up the otherwise bland environment. Given the obscenely long travel time between arenas, most of the gameplay devolves into roaming around whatever arena you spawn into, taking pot-shots at anything that crosses your sights. Fans of strategic deathmatching need not apply.
Failed Experiment? For some reason, this map has its own Assault-esque intro movie, running a sparse few seconds. As a result, players are thrown into the action almost as soon as the level loads.
THE VERDICT:
Fast-paced, spam-heavy gimmick map. Good for a few laughs.

| sandorski 12-19-2004 06:42 PM MST | Rating: 5.5 | | Mori pretty much sums it up. Some interesting ideas, in an ok Map. I liked some of the StaticMeshes/Textures used in spots, especially in the lower area with its' keyboards, mice, and chairs. Some promising stuff there(assuming they were created by the Mapper).
