REVIEWER: Gnome and Sapper DATE: Wednesday, August 10th, 2005 TODAY'S MAP WAS PICKED BY: Gnome
DM-USSkursk by Mislav
AWE: 0.5 BUILD: 1.0 CAST: 0.5
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 4 RECOMMENDED GAME TYPE: DM (Or you could practice tossing it in your recycle bin) ADRENALINE FACTOR: 3/5
SAPPER: Thank you Gnome. GNOME: For what? SAPPER: For selecting a map that was even worse than the one I picked yesterday. Now I don't feel so bad.
THE AWE FACTOR GNOME: So clearly, the USS Kursk was a prototype interstellar vessel developed by the NEG. However, due to certain cost and design flaws, the ship was unable to power its way out of orbit. And like all maps, this is where Liandri comes in to 'save the day.' SAPPER: Seriously though, if I were Liandri, I wouldn't forked over for it. Not really sure what happened but the sky box is really messed up. Lighting is mediocre at best, texturing could use some more work, theme seemed inconsistent, and I wasn't sold on the 'warp core.' GNOME: The Bridge looked good.
THE BUILD SAPPER: TWo words: problematic! GNOME: That's one word, Sapper. SAPPER: Shut up. GNOME: The doors worked well. I didn't find any HOMs. Brushes and sound were adequate. Not really sure what Mislav was thinking when he built it though...there are brushes all over the place. It's a real mess.
THE CAST SAPPER: There are a lot of different things I could say here, but I think the FCC would have even more to say to me if I did. GNOME: In the bot match, you will usually find one bot jumping on top of a bed trying to get some sort of weapon beneath it. You will also find another bot running circles on the bridge. Meanwhile, the other two will find them, kill them, take their place and the vicious circle will start all over again. SAPPER: You'll likely get a higher Adrenaline Factor and a better game if you play it online with real people, but I'm sure it wouldn't make that much difference.
OVERALL GNOME: If I build a room with a staircase and a window in it, it would probably be more fun. SAPPER: You know Gnome, sometimes I wish I were doing a review with Arcadia instead of you. That way I might actually get to play some exciting maps. GNOME: Why don't you go and ask him. maybe he will. SAPPER: I think I might just do that. GNOME: Good. See y'all tomorrow. If all goes well, it'll just be me. |

| XepptizZ 08-07-2004 11:37 AM MDT | Rating: 3 | | What you see in the screenie is the space-ships warpcore. This map ain't pretty and it's scaled realistic ( just enough space to walk, let alone jumpin' ) so the gameplay is very bad. It also has a realistic ammount of chairs in the control-room, the flow is like old toothpaste.
| Chopin 08-19-2005 02:29 AM MDT | Rating: 1 | | Wow this map sucks. What you need to do is select all brushes, and scale them up by a factor of 3. Also when you are taking a screenshot of the map you should select 'hidden' for your weapon hand, so the weapon doesn't appear in the screenshot.
The lighting in this map is nice, so I give it a 1.
