| sandorski 07-29-2004 08:44 AM MDT | Rating: 5.5 | | This Map looks quite nice, very convincing as an actual place. Very good use of Ambient Sounds helps make it more convincing as a place. I think though that its' flow is only so-so for DM, I think it would make a great peice of a larger AS Map. Bots work well.
Couple issues:
1) there is a lift in one of the large rooms which require a jump to get on. The top of the same lift has a overhang which players can easily get in the way of
2) The doubledoors seem to frag players for some reason, maybe this is intentional, I don't know, but it seems odd.
| SilverHairDevil 07-29-2004 01:52 PM MDT | Rating: 5 | | Yes the ambience is great. Gameplay is fair, but you must fix that elevator plz. I'm sorry that i can't ask this question on the forums (its not letting me post topics, anyone know why?) anyway, if you want to convert a map, say (just and example) CTF-Citadel to BR-Citadel, you have to ask permition from the author, right? (ive never done a conversion before, sry if this is a dumb question) If u do, how do u ask permission? (e mail?)
| Innominate 07-29-2004 06:46 PM MDT | | to SilverHD: If it's a retail map I don't think you can ask permission. If it's a map from NC just comment or email telling the author you're going to edit their map. I think you can make the conversion or changes without asking as long as you include the original author's name and credit him/her for making the map that would be good enough. Just don't take credit for everything then it would be fine. But seriously though, I don't think anyone is going to sue anyone over this kind of thing, it's too frivolous.
| Manticore 07-30-2004 02:22 AM MDT | Rating: 5.5 | | Visually the map is bland, despite the moving cog feature wall which gives the map some character, and the lighting average.
Collisions around some deco meshes need to be addressed as player models hang up on them, including around the operation of elevators. Gameplay is reasonable and the deadly doors, whether intentional or not, provide the map with an interesting gameplay feature.
Keep it up....
| CyMek 08-08-2004 12:30 PM MDT | Rating: 4.5 | | On a first note, this map didnt work for me either, I had to open it in the editor and hit the playtest button. Most likely becasue I got load errors when I opened it. Go figure.
Anyways, other hen the fact that I cant play this map other than by opening it up in the editor, I like it ok. The flow works well. But what really hooks me is the visuals. The BSP is simple in a few places, but the level is well staticmeshed out. But the fog - I'm lovin it like a McDonalds commercial. Really adds a lot, nice work on this one!
^but I'm still 'gonna rehash about the elevator, its kindof annoying....
| Shao 08-10-2004 07:06 PM MDT | | maybe you should fix it.....
| )Hidra( 09-06-2004 06:29 PM MDT | | thx for the comment ... im gonna make a v.2.0 for this map ...
