Map DescriptionOn a dark and desolate world are the remains of an ancient and long vanished civilization. Strange castles dot the cold landscape, dark sentinels bearing silent witness to bygone days of glory, a time when their builders ruled the destinies of a thousand races. As the silence is shattered by the noise of weapon fire and of dying fighters, shadows watch and scowl at those insolent newcomers who dare disturb their eternal slumber.

When i look at this it looks impresive. The arhi & style remind's my at the "Unreal New Engine Technlgy Demo" whit the outdoor DM-Tundra. Nice work, but one minus - too many mosaic's on the floor. Nice Z axis fight's. ~End from me~

Original and unique. I like it, think it looks good, but found it quite confusing at first and had to find a door through deductive reasoning(stairs going up to a darkened wall? hmm, probably not). It needs Optomization though, it worked fine for me, but those with slower systems are going to have issues with this map.

Lots of Original content.

edit: Elric, did you extract all files to their proper directories? Doublecheck that.

I would love to comment favourably however this map keeps crashing UT on me. Grrrrr!!! Perhaps I don't have the computer for it? Mac G4 Dual 1.42 GHz, 2 GB DDR Ram and a Nvidia GeForce Ti Pro with 128 DDR. Please tell me there is a revised version of this map that will run for me. Thanx.

Nope - I give the map a zero because it crashes the program. The computer info was a "Tongue in Cheek" remark. More than enough horsepower there to run anything that can be thrown at it. BTW it is not the only map that can't be run. Something to do with the header info not being correct for cross platform playing perhaps? I don't know but something is keeping it from running. There was a similar problem in UT2K3 with some maps as well. I will be reporting this to Epic as it may be a Mac Version of the program that is creating the problem. Stay tuned.

If it can't be run - I can't give it a score now can I. Mind you nice screen shots but you can't play those.

So for me - Oppressive is Depressing me. LOL!!

Didn't realize that I could write something and not rate it - only has a "0" to "10" - we would need another catagory here that says unable to rate or some such thing. Sorry but the "0" from me has to stay until I can run it. If you need a couple of Mac Testers I am willing to give it a shot and I think my buddy would as well. We play over the net "Private" twice a week for 2 to 3 hours at a stretch.

This is not the only map that crashes the program but the first in a long while. My buddy and I are finding some maps pretty laggy - would this be inproper zoning? Poly counts to high? I don't know - you could most likely tell me. Both the UT2K4 Log and the Map are presently at Macsoftgames the publisher of the Mac version and most likely at Epic as I write this. The most major of crashes ever happened with almost all 3rd party and some original maps in UT2K3. That was an Epic mess up that has since been fixed. Now Epic has updated the code on the Master Servers etc for 2K3 except for the Mac side. We can't even play online anymore. Not even private as all has to go through the Master Server.

I wish I could load it up in an Editor and see what is happening but Epic in it's infinite wisdom has still not given us gamers in the Mac community the tools to do map making, modeling or skinning for UT in all it's varients and we have to rely on the skill of those in the PC side of the house. I am more than pleased with the results over the years and rarely complain except under my breath.

Sandorski - re file placement - triple checked before I wrote a word.

Orion - just a thought - the jump boots. Did you modify the files from the originals at all and save them as the same name? See I already had the jump boots installed from a previous map and so didn't install your files for these and if there is code in the map looking for revised code in your files perhaps that would cause the problem ....?? Just a thought.

Arrrg - re the Jump boots - sorry you are correct - that was another map that I installed yesterday as well - try the spidersteroids files those also were installed previously. We can carry this on private. To public here. Check your private email.

Well, it's not my fault if the map crashes your computer, so why give it a zero, especially if it's not the only map that causes this problem? It runs just fine on a PC and I don't have a Mac to test it on, so I can't do anything to correct whatever causes the crash. Telling Epic about it is a good idea. In the meantime, just post your comment but don't give a rating, that would be more fair to me and the map, don't you think? Maybe you could load the map in your editor, do a full rebuild, save it under a different name and see if this clears up the problem.

Elric, there are no jumpboots in this map. Can you send me the UT2004 log you get when it crashes? Maybe I can recognize something in it that would give me a clue. My email addy is asimov_orion@videotron.ca

really nice ctf map. very, complex, but working layout for ctf. choosing basic black and white colours was risky, but works well here. sort of looks like an old dracula castle movie, but with a digitally inhanced picture.weapon placement is great, and it even has spider mine guns. very good skybox. i'm going to go try this out right now in iGib and shock sniper rifle.
if you like ctf, down load this and enjoy it. the default 8 players seemded a bit low, try 12, but try this map NOW!

Can't remember much about the UT version of this map as it's been a while........

This mapper delivers quality builds, in my opinion, but in this case I have to question the scaling of the map; which could depend on whether the geometry was ported or totally redrawn.

Again a decent build with a good grasp of gameplay. Must boot up UT and try the original........

.........and it's not worth "10". I believe that the admins. here don't really respect people rating maps "to compensate for other users". (Their words).

like you dont rate like that yourself red :)

black and white maps are always a fun change, as was this one, pretty fun to walk trough a time tho i wish there were more special things around to look at and less randomly placed walkways.
sky was really erm, colorful and looked pretty cheap tho
