The layout is almost exactly the same as the original but with more detail. I made the map for two reasons:
1) For Practice. I definitely want to do my own stuff but I need to practice a bit first.
2) I was stuck playing with bots because my friends who still play UT extensively frowned upon UT03/04; they consider it to be too slow. I tried to get that fast feeling again with this map. I hope I got it right.

Boths aren't pathed well enough, though, they keep jumping in the middle of the arena when you're downstairs, making them extremly predictable. Another major problem is the upstairs section. It's way too narrow and not high enough. With a double jump you can easily aim upstairs. Make it higher and wider (I would suggest rebuilding the map from scratch). Gfx and lightning are ok, nothing spectacular, but it's understandable for a first map. The areas near the lifts are lightened pretty good. Anyway, I use UTCOMP 1.2 with bright skins, so camping is out of the question. Some eye candy is more than welcomed, tho'. Also I would add some cracked walls and steam in the redeemer area to integrate everything better into the theme. +1 point to my original score because I had fun making 500+ FPH at one on one (I really miss the 1000+ FPH from UT). This is one of the fastest maps for UT 2k4 and is really cool for a quick bang in a LAN warm-up. My final suggestion is to study more and improve this map. Don't be discouraged by the 1's and 2's this map will receive. UT 2k4 deserves a good Morbias remake. [Again I appologise for my possible spelling/grammar errors. English is not my native language, you know.]
| sandorski 07-26-2004 03:25 AM MDT | Rating: 4.5 | | Not too bad, but as already stated the scale upstairs is too small and the lighting is below average. The lighting is lifeless, too bright in spots and too White, playing with the Brightness and Colour would help a lot.
The Map does play quickly though, so that goal was acheived. Ignore your friends and keep mapping for UT2k4! ;)

but for a first time it looks decentish enough.

| hieloco 07-27-2004 11:39 PM MDT | | Thanks to everybody for their comments, both good and bad, for they really helped me to see some mistakes which otherwise would have passed unnoticed.
Indeed, I also feel the center of the map is the weakest part of it all, and I will redo it from scratch. The side rooms apparently were not much of a problem (of course, maybe that is because they are not really used that much as the center part). The sides are easy to adjust to the new center. I will do some tweaking there too, anyways.
Thanks to the feedback, these are the following aspects I will cover in the next version:
Make the second floor circular ramp higher and wider, totally redo the lighting in the center, and fix the bot paths (I will also try to remove the elevator camping advantage). I also plan to add details to try to give a more critically dangerous look to the installations and to improve flow.
I'm happy that I achieved the "faster fragging" goal with the map. So, I'll be working these next days in fixing and improving the map, and then move on to probably another remake.
