| kingmango 07-08-2004 03:33 PM MDT | | I'm gonna hold off on rating this map for one reason. It runs like shit. You have a really solid map going here but you have dropped the ball with nearly five hundred thousand polys rendered at any given moment. First of all, make the outside terrain part of the skybox and take screenshots and make a new skybox and that will save you quite a bit. Where you go from there is up to you, but this map is unplayable on an Athlon XP3000+ with a GB of DDR. There's just no reason for that. I didn't spend too much time in it cause it's annoying to get single digit framrates. But architecturally it looked really nice except that some of the platforms and ramps were simply too thin and plain. I would like to have a playable version of this map. It's not often I DL a map and then immediately fire up 2k4. But from the screenshots I did and the map lives up to the preview, but unless you're not concerned about less than one per cent of the people being able to play it, you need to do some serious work on it still. I can tell from your skill you know about optimization and why you didn't take this into account is beyond me.

This map did seem to run a bit slow and the bots did not perform well I was almost on my own till the last node. Still it looks good. I'll give it a few more goes, add a few more bots see if that spices it up.
| Manticore 07-08-2004 08:15 PM MDT | Rating: 4.5 | | This mapper has done some interesting things with their other maps but has lacked proper planning and execution to the point of over-doing the result. Optimisation is a problem here.
Additional comment: This is not a reflection on this mapper but, generally, if and when Epic release a bonus pack for UT2K4 I hope they include a map or two based on a whole new visual thematic as the Egyptian themes are becoming a bit tired and probably hit their high-point with Big Mick and Micheal M.... (IN MY OPINION)
[Admin: Oh trust me, they will :)]
| sandorski 07-22-2004 06:24 AM MDT | Rating: 7 | | The map looks real nice and I didn't experience any performance issues, but the Polys do get too high in spots(if most of the map can be called "spots" :D ). One thing that was really frustrating were numerous collision issues with Vehicles getting stuck on places where they shouldn't.
Update: Much improved! The snags are gone and the map is a lot of fun.
