first off, it could do with some better optimisation. although my system is fairly average (Athlon XP 2500+, 512MB DDR-400, 128MB GF FX5200) it got anywhere between 20 and 100 frames.
it is a well designed piece of architecture but needs some more eye candy. if zoned and optimised right, the extra trimmings shouldn't have much of a performance hit anyway. texture choice is fairly good but isn't the best for creating the right look - definitely on it's way tho. lighting is generally good but needs to be brought back a level or two to get the 'old and deserted temple' feel i think you were really trying to get.
item placement is good. not too much lying about and really keeps you moving. health vials are abundant but might be better to replace a group or two with health packs instead and maybe putting ammo packs closer to their respective weapon bases will improve the flow. bots make good use of the map but lack that little extra bite to make it pleasantly surprising. nice work with the udammage btw, challenging but still accessible ;)
all in all, a good map. has it's flaws but none that can't be fixed. certainly a very competent attempt. well done :)

| scirmast 10-04-2005 10:38 AM MDT | Rating: 8 | | A good map! Everything else is good here except the framerates and the fact that the layout is basically a center area with a ring surrounding it. This "ring effect" takes away much from the map because it feels too simple and symmetric. It's like a tark contrast between the center and the surrouding areas. Everything comes in basic shapes, basic flavour. Maybe castles are like that but that does not change the fact the gameplay suffers. However, the center area is done very well, and this somewhat makes up for it.
If you are going to design more maps, remain the good aspects of the center area while scratching the ring parts. You are very talented!
| CursedSoul1 10-05-2005 12:26 PM MDT | Rating: 6 | | Bad collision from the meshes, those b0rk up gameplay and frustrate me and even some bots. lighting is mostly bland and same around the map. same for the detail and looks, most is kinda empty and pale.
it plays.. decent.. if the collision from some of the meshes didnt interfere.
my advice, look at the better ancient maps (and better maps allround) and learn from that. a nice try, but nothing special.
