T3KTON: Some guy told me he had that problem too, when he renamed the map it worked.
BOT40: I guess you're right about those things. However, more detail and static meshes rock walls instead of terrain walls and all that would hurt performance pretty bad. (Trust me, I tried) Since I got a pretty low-end computer, one of the major goals for me with this map was to keep the framerates high (which is 10-20 in my case).

| Bot40 07-30-2004 09:49 PM MDT | Rating: 5 | | hmm, certainly feels unique but the whole architecture + style doesn't seem to have a theme. The meshes themselves are okish, but they tend to look more like random shapes than proper structures. The fact they all have base textures doesn't help that and there is a distinct lack of detail. The central gorge should also have been built using static meshes (preferably custom) instead of terrain since there is no overhangs, it's just plain vertical cliffs which looks unatural. The lighting seemed fairly bland, different colours were used, the river of ooze gives off a nice glow etc. but the rest of the map feels fairly empty in that respect. Basically, custom meshes give it a boost, it's nicer than seeing the same old crappy meshes over and over but could have been executed so much better. There's potential here, but the author needs to keep working hard and studying other maps.
Gameplay wise the map seems pretty standard tbh. Although there are buildings etc. they are so huge the gameplay is just pretty much the same as any other giant terrain onslaught map and nothing really special. Don't get me wrong, it plays well, just more of the old same thing, and onslaught has so much more potential than that.
Overall I would have much rather have seen a much more focused theme and better execution. The storyline with the goo has potential but a better idea might have been to have just the gorge, and ledges etc along it and some caves and tunnel networks. Straight away you have a more original theme instead of "giant terrain map with buildings" and it would also bring tons of new oppertunities for different gameplay.
In short, you get a uniquely themed map with decent gameplay and custom meshes all wrapped up in a pretty small file :)
Author: Try not to pay too much attention to the score, just with your next map concentrate on trying to create a more coherrant theme and a more original layout and it will increase a lot. And try to work on detailing your meshes out a lot more.
