| nightshadow 06-30-2004 11:12 AM MDT | Rating: 2 | | I went into this map with high optimism that mabey someone had finally recreated one of my favorite U1 levels. But, unfortunately this one doesn't pull through.
Upsides: - good lighting everywhere except the BioRifle room - the tree in the outdoor area was a nice touch
Downsides: - the overall level was too small for a UT2k4 match. there's no room to double dodge - the water in the outdoor area is just blah. the texture and animation need reworking - the transporters failed to make the level feel bigger than it really was. this map feels like i'm running in a long pipe of rooms - the music is TERRIBLE! - there is just a pit in the minigun area when there should be a trap. i loved that trap in U1. it's just a pit with lava in this level. - the windows need glass and bars - the skybox is wrong. should be mountains of some kind.
It was a decent try, but just didn't pull through.

FYI:
1) You are not the one that I got an e-mail from requesting the remake of this map!
2) You need a new video card!!!
3) The request-tee didn't want any windows, a trip door (for their reasons), or any see through wrap doors!
4) You have to have a brain to know when and where to use the "Double Dodge"!!!
5) It's the request-tee's music!!!
6) The rquest-tee asked to have the map built deep in the woods instead of the mountains!!!
7) The map was put out here so her members can download it, so it wouldn't take so long to wait while online fighting on their server!!!
8) And most IMPORTANT ONE OF THEM ALL is there is no nice try to it...their happy with it, and thats all that matters to ME!!!

Either way I tried to like this map, as it was one of my favorite dungeons in Unreal,.. but all the flair (IE: the trap floor, the ambience, some of the secret walls ect) were all left out... sigh. Guess some maps just aren't going to translate well after so many years...
