DM-Overload | | Map Info |
| | File Name | dm-overload.zip | Author | ansath | Gametype | UT2k4 Deathmatch | Date Added | 08-08-2005 | File Version | 2.00 | File Size | 6.59 mb | Player Count | 6 - 16 | Map Description | This is a very large indoor/outdoor deathmatch map. It is suitable for team deathmatch or regular deathmatch with several players. I used a sci-fi/industrial theme. There are 16 player starts and nearly all weapons are included.

| Manticore 06-17-2004 03:31 AM MDT | Rating: 4 | | Painfully lag-ridden, in fact it was so bad in places (11fps) that I couldn't even finish one match............. some potential but below average.
| sandorski 07-07-2004 03:29 AM MDT | Rating: 5.5 | | Pretty nice looking map, though probably too huge for DM, maybe not. Performance is an issue though, optomize for increased score.
| ansath 08-08-2005 03:17 PM MDT | | This is a new version, and it now runs much better. I zoned the map and reduced the number of textures and static meshes so that it runs faster.
| CursedSoul1 08-09-2005 11:06 AM MDT | Rating: 5.5 | | Very fun map to play online with tons of people, but will prolly end up in a sniperfest.
Theres a lot to mention about what could be improved in the map for gameplay and looks. to much to mention for me, for now. The polycount of your skybox could be dropped with a few 100 easily (why in the hell a sphere skybox anyways)
if you got questions, use the forums, or add a few decent mappers in your msn/icq/whatever list. you can mail me or add me to msn as well. just check my user profile.
good luck in future maps.
edit: shank.. do you actually know the hows and whats of ued? The map IS zoned, but not very effective, (for the mapper:) For basic zoning check out these: (They are for ued 2.0 but are still useable with 3.0) http://www.planetunreal.com/uedlab/basiczoning.htm http://www.planetunreal.com/uedlab/zoneparameters.htm http://www.planetunreal.com/uedlab/tutorials.htm and: http://www.unrealwiki.com/wiki/Map_Optimization
and use as much bsp as u want, just optimise it, and dont go overboard, also find a good balance between mesh usage, and bsp usage. DM-sae has no bsp as far as i know, so even that is possible.
| _shank 08-09-2005 05:52 AM MDT | Rating: 3.5 | | Inconsistent lvl design, too distracting.
No zoning done, too much use of BSP.
