So, it's safe to say Manticore doesn't like it.
Anyone else?
Manticore, I didn't mean anything personal. I was being sarcastic. I have no problem with you comments. You are right on with your comments, for the most part. I would like to hear your thoughts on gameplay, though. It would help me learn.
| sandorski 06-05-2004 06:44 PM MDT | Rating: 3 | | Once again it has improved quite nicely, but I think it could be improved a lot more yet. :)
The Terrain looks real good and I like the Blue crystal and the efects on it. The added pictures on the walls have helped a lot, but I think the walls themselves could use more detail, such as braces, floor/ceiling trim, etc. To get an idea on the kind of details that help, do an Internet search on Ancient Temples and look at the pictures(real or artist conception)of them, often it's easy to overlook the small details that make huge differences.
There is still 1 outside wall that doesn't line up properly leaving quite a large gap between it and the Temple. Also, you have an invisible box around the Light Tower that stops players at an odd distance, I think you may have changed a setting on the Meshes Collision that you shouldn't have.
Keep on Mapping!
| Manticore 06-04-2004 08:16 PM MDT | Rating: 2 | | In my opinion using the forums to beta test maps is a good idea. Then when a finished version of the map is submitted here, someone like me can download it....
Now that there is a final version:
Terrain: Where there are pools there would be no grass growing beneath the surface of the water.
Architecture: Where one of the walls straddles a pool, what is holding the wall up? The physics on the particular planet you have chosen must be different as in Earth-normal gravity the wall would have collapsed.
Theme: You appear to have mixed mutated Easter Island themes with central American decorative motifs. Aliens from this world must have done a backpacking holiday in central and south America.
Gameplay:.............?
These are only a few points and to persue this further would result in a hell of a lot of negativity. Sorry that's the best I can do.
Additional comment to the mapper: Don't confuse what I subjectively like with what is objectively wrong with the map. And, unfortunately, there is plenty wrong here.....
Your Onslaught map, although it had problems, was a better job and this just appears rushed and not thought through at all....
