| Manticore 06-01-2004 10:25 PM MDT | Rating: 4 | | There is no gameplay but I appreciate the mapper's attempt at doing something with Moorish architecture and decorative motifs.
Structurally the load bearing walls and arches look a bit "thin" so the whole construction looks a bit like theatrical flats; no substance.
Additional comment: After further gameplay I really have to wonder about weapons placement and whether it could possibly have been thought through a bit better. The lightning gun is on the first floor; this is not so good for sniping/camping as you are in operational range of any weapon lying around at ground level.
| rustbucket 07-20-2004 11:02 AM MDT | | I should probably go on record by sayig a lot of the play testing on the map happened using the Remote Strike mod weapons set, which make this game an absolute "blast" to play (sorry, pun intended).
That said I was trying to put sniper type weapons on the ground floor to encourage level flow, during earlier builds I found human nature had everyone camping on the top floor and sniping any poor bastard spawning at the bottom.
As for the architecture, very good points, I'll keep that in mind. I've put up a more detailed explanation of the thought process behind each of my maps at www.subrefere.com/games
Thanks for taking the time to comment, glad you enjoyed it. (somewhat)
